This beauty was completely restored in 2007.   It originally came from San Diego with NO Rust except for several spots in the floor pans AND NO body damage.   The floor pans were replaced and the body was professionally stripped and painted to where the doors. hood and trunk lids were removed. painted and installed. (see photos)

In the process of restoration the following were replaced or made new again:

New seat covers and seat padding

New door panels/side panels

New top. padding and headliner

New carpeting and under-padding

New fuel tank. pump. sending unit and rubber lines

New radio/speakers with a CD player and IPOD connector

New break cylinders. lines and master cylinder

New head/tail lights and turning markers

New tires

Engine rebuilt to stock tolerances and converted to carburetor/single/German Solex

This car was restored and given to my oldest daughter for her enjoyment in 2007 while she was in high school.   When she went off to college she left this gem for her little sister.   It was not driven much during the period my oldest gave it up until my youngest turned 16 (about 2 years).   Now that my youngest has driven it for a year she is ready for another. less obvious car.   This car is a head-turner. she is shy. nbsp;reserved and not so girly.   She is a sportster. soccer player and tough.   Whenever and wherever you drive this car people will yell out that they love your car. sit and talk with you about their past history in a VW and follow you around to get a photo.   When you have it parked girls are always taking their "selfies" with it in the background.

It has 6 years of high school girl ownership (actually only 4 due to the mostly idle time).  There is a small tear in the drivers seat.   There is a "keyed" scratch on the passenger side from a jealous  girl and normal dings and a small bit of rust.   The IPOD connector has a loose wire so it has been "jury-rigged" to work with some epoxy.   It has a few chrome parts that have been sprayed with black Plastidip for a different look but it is something you could remove in a few minutes. (youtube plastidip and you will see what I mean).

It has a new hole under the battery compartment (about the size of 3 quarters in a line) that needs to be fixed but any other rust is minor and cosmetic. I placed the battery in a plastic battery box but must not have done it soon enough after the restoration (maybe a year later?). It has a good spare tire. the original jack and a 4-way lug wrench. The convertible boot is original and in good shape but it is tan. The windshield washer system has been replaced with an electric motor type (instead of the spare tire air pressure) that uses the stock reservoir and I fashioned the original switch to work by electrical means.

I just put a good used set of heat exchangers on the engine because the old ones were rusted out pretty good.   The heat exchangers send heat up to the cabin area but more importantly they help keep the engine cylinder heads cool.   The muffler was newly purchased when the engine was rebuilt.   It has been maintained well but again it has been a daily driver for 4 years of driving.   The engine has around 23K miles on it.   The car has 130K or so since it was born.

We have listed it locally so I reserve the right to take down this Ebay listing if it sells.   When my daughter drives it out on the town my phone rings all the time from potential buyers.   I have held true to the "Buy-it-now" price locally but my reserve price has some discount to it.

Wouldn't it be a great car for a young high school girl or a seasoned free spirit?  There are so many add-ons for these older VWs that you could outfit it with many enhancements.
