 1967. VW. Dormobile Up for sale

I built this bus in 2009. and in 2011 I had to sell it to a friend. Now.
I am selling it for him. I have listing it for him because I built the
bus and know what is in it and I can answer the questions. I know the
history of this bus.

 One of my business is making theme busses in my own unique style. One offs
and never duplicated . lets say… rolling pieces of art! So enjoy the
photos this is truly a one of a kind bus! The new owner will be proud to
own this and look out for all the attention you'll get.

So here we go.

The current history

In 2009 I bought this bus with the intention of building something
special and different . At that time I was married. my wife was New
Zealand and I decided to build a  NZ Maori tiki theme bus. I planed on
building this one off pieces of art. this is the first of many theme
busses to come. but this one was for me and the very first one This
build was open and unplanned. it was go with the flow of creativity that
really sets this bus apart. What you see here is my true creativity in
all aspects of this build. A one of a kind bus. I will never duplicate.

I have used this bus as a prop for my tee shirt business. no worries
kiwi kat ( see my eBay store)at various car shows.

Materials for this bus have been sourced from around the world . from
New Zealand. Asia . S. Hawaii. It was truly magical to build and see
this bus come together. and the response of people who see it. is
amazing! This bus has a huge following and always picks up an award at
car show.

I have a full historical photo log of the bus build. posted on the samba
dot com under Dormobile or Scott Woodward and you would be able to pull
it up. I bought the bus from a guy in Colorado . He had bought it in an
auction and prior to that an old hippy lived in it for 15 or so years.

I bought it and had it shipped down to Arizona. where I stripped the bus
down to a shell. I went through the mechanical. body. and interior as
soon as I got it. The body was sent out for the body work ( not much
mostly paint prep and digs ) and the 2 tone colors. Ford brown
(rootbeer) and the pearl white on top were chosen.

While that was getting that done. I had the dormobile transmission
rebuilt at Az transaxle. freeway flyer gear. swing axel . reduction
boxes removed and I bought the Allen wrench adjustable spring plates. I
bought a 2” narrow CB adjustable front beam from Ronnie in Lake Havasu
old volks home. Competition engineering narrowed the tie rods and
installed new joints. New steering stabilizer. Drop spindles from Aaron
at wide five. A 914 type 4 . 2. 0 Porsche engine powers the bus. I have a
very early DTM ( Down the middle) Jake Rabbi fan shroud ( # 37) painted
to match body of the bus. An high output alternator supplies the power.
I have had oil lines made sealed joints. to keep the oil going without
leaks.

2 44 IDF Italian Webbers with 1966 912 Porsche air cleaner
installed for that super cool vintage look. The dizzy is a 009. degree pulley.
Blue coil. Engine pistons were switched out to larger making it
a 2. 3 engine and the type 4 heads were reworked. new valves. guides.
springs. installed and cleaned by European Automotive here in phoenix.
Starter. master brake cylinder were new when I built the bus in 2009.

Lights. fried egg turn signal lenses and reflector and rear light lenses
and rubbers where all new in 2009. Turn signals were never hooked up.
but I do have the original turn signal switch. Rubber and weather
stripping was done as well. A new dormobile top vinyl was made off of a pattern

of the old top. I switched it out because I did not like the red and white
stripes. New weather stripping was sourced at a upholstery shop and the
rubber end molding. New vent plastic were bought from a lady in
Washington who makes them. Hinges' for the vents are new copies and so are the 
hinges. All new stainless screws were used and most of the good original
stayed. All top brackets are there. spring load on the top I did not
set. but could be set. The cots. hardware and new tribal fabric was used
for both cots.

Dormobile emblems on either side of the front door . ere sourced out of
England. and I found a gold Porsche vw emblem for the back door. Tires
and rims. I used 135 tires in the front and  larger tires in the
back. wide 5 Anson rims with stud and chrome lugs. back rims are shimmed
out 3/8 for clearance.

Interior…. So much to list
Front my own custom design on the seats and door panels Maori theme soft
reddish brown vinyl . looks and feels like leather. custom stitched bu
Unique Auto Upholstery. Seats have been rebuilt. nice solid form and
they feel very comfy and soft. Toe kick panels teak like wood. The grab
handle is a section of root from Malaysia. the light knobs are coco bola
turned on a wood lathe. the shift knob is black palm with in lay of
abalone. the tach on the dash ( not connected) is a mesquite  branch out
of my back yard I turned for the housing of the tach. The sun visors and
black walnut carved with tribal design. On the door panels are mounted
redwood free form natural door handles. window rubbers. felt have been
replace. Front windows . rear window safaris are from Wolfsburg west.
Headliner is also teak like paneling with a New Zealand Fern out of Rimu
wood mounted to the air vent housing.

Middle of the bus. br clear="none">Tiger strip bamboo from Malaysia is on the floor. free for cabinet that
holds and ice chest and has 2 lit pot shelf's for deco items. The top
counter top is 1500 year old redwood burl with natural edge. lower
counter top is Arizona Iron wood again with a natural tree edge. The
free form cabinet has a single panel skin that was formed to fit in one
piece. Palm tree baseboards. A Hawaiian tiki with his bottle opener
guards the interior. Various Monkey pod knobs are around the interior.
The fold out seat -bed has a tribal design and when the bed is pulled
out it make a New Zealand Tiki face. a real kicker at a car show. people
really trip out on it. Rear seats were also rebuilt with Teak like
paneling. free formed into corner section with a redwood counter top
with 3 drink holders. The rear side cabinet free formed bend with
another Arizona Ironwood counter top with natural edge. Hickory was used
to lower the section on the back roof to allow for the 2 rear kenwood
speakers. while the from door panel design have been designed for the
front speaker to be mounted. JVC stereo cd and I phone plug in .

This bus has won best interior  Bug o Rama. best type 2. best custom and so on.

She runs great plenty of power and glides in comfort down the street.

I will do several updates through out the auction so look for them. I will add more photos as well.

The muffler system was custom made. using bus type 4 manifolds. with a cross over flanged pipe.
