The underside of the car has received the same meticulous attention to detail as the topside. The chocolate brown mellow hide interior with contrasting bird's eye maple trim is gorgeous. The car boasts lots of unusual touches like the hidden sound system that appears from behind a maple panel. It also has a custom steering wheel with Hupp emblem and a fold down instrument cluster that allows access to wiring and Kugel master cylinder. The high-end audio system thunders.
The car is powered by a stout Chevrolet big block using all the best components. Transmission is a turbo 400 and the 9” Currie rear completes the drive train. There is power steering and power 4 wheel disc brakes with 11” rotors. vintage air and heat as well as power windows. Although the car has less than 50 test miles on the odometer. it runs down the road perfectly while maintaining its cool. We completed this car in the summer of 2012 in time to compete for and win the Gene Winfield Award at the Syracuse Nationals. We next went to Detroit's Autorama and. while not eligible for the Ridler Award (because of entering the prior competition). we won 1 st place in Custom Rods and a best display award to boot! The car was featured in Street Rodder Premium magazine's summer 2013 edition. 1941 hupmobile. com
