This amazing 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder recreation was hand built by renowned custom car builder Darrell Zipp.

With over 40 years experience building Hot Rods and Custom cars from the ground up. he has a earned a reputation as the very best.

One of the cars he helped build won the 1998 Americas Most Beautiful Roadster Award. (Dave Emory's 1932 Ford "Revolver")

This Porsche 550 was built approximately 5 years ago and he has driven it 2500 miles since completion.

1. The chassis is made of 14 ga tube and was completely Tig welded.

2. The Rear suspension is fully adjustable with double trailing arms.

3. Porsche 914 front end and steering box.

4. All four corners of the car are fitted with fully adjustable Aldan Coil Overs.

5. Wilwood Clutch and brake master cylinder.

6. 4-wheel Porsche disc brakes.

7. 914 Type 4 Porsche engine was completely rebuilt by Allen Johnsen racing engines. (with receipts) 1. 9 litre. stainless 40 and 34 mm valves. moly retainers. 911 cups. dual valve springs. and Keith Black 96 mm pistons and 24 mm pins. All fully balanced and blueprinted. Topped with Weber 40 mm downdraft carbs . electronic ignition. electric fuel pump. and a custom made cooling shroud utilizing 2 vw fans. Darrell did a flow test on the shroud to assure proper cooling to each cylinder. In addition there are 3 oil coolers.

one in the shroud and one behind each rocker panel scoop.

8. The Transmission is a Porsche 901 5 speed. Great for around town and the freeway.

9. The Exhaust is made of Stainless steel and Tig welded.

10. The fully custom body built by Darrell was based off the original 550 body and modified to create a very unique and more modern look. This 550 even has forward opening doors!

11. Show quality paint and excellent body gaps and fitment ( Darrell founded Zipper Motors years ago specializing in Ford bodies and chassis) and Darrell knows fiberglass. /

12. The interior is very minimal with ultrasuede seats. removeable

racing steering wheel. and Haneline Gauges.

13. The Top has an aluminum frame and covered in Hartz Stayfast Canvas. It removes with only 4 allen head bolts. ( 2 minutes. and weighs 20 lbs).

This 550 weighs 1600 lbs soaking wet and produces over 120 hp. making it a great combination. It handles like a race car. very tight and nimble and really a fun car to drive. especially being on the right hand side!
