Let me explain. back in the late 1930's. Adolf Hitler and Henry Ford were friends.
So what if Hitler's iconic Volkswagen and Ford's 1923 T were to breed…. today we would have a TVW Hot Rod…! (hey it could have happened)
This year for my 75th birthday I decided to make the Hot Rod that I should of had when I was a
teenager. ( as a teenager. stupidity and poverty kept me from building one )
BUT now that I can afford it. I thought I should get the “Build a neat Street Rod” off my Bucket List
Fiberglass body with door
Custom built Frame
Torsion Bar suspension front and rear
Chrome. dropped front end ( from a 1960's Dragster ) with Hollcrafter front wheels
Chrome shocks. front and rear
Stainless Steel. 8+gallon custom fuel tank ( where the radiator would normally be )
1 Gallon “Special Fuel” tank up front
1922 Model T Ford headlights
Model A cowl and directional lights
Custom interior ( everything New )
Kick Ass dash and gauges
1950 Pontiac tail lights
Lift up bed (to access engine)
Ansen “slot” mags and G60-14 rear wheels ( Seriously Old School )
6 volt system with Optima Battery
The Engine: EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING is NEW
I wanted an engine that was “to dumb to die” and not at all to techincal to maintain. My intention was to cruise town SLOWLY…. because if you're driving really fast. NOBODY will be able to see how COOL you really are…!
So I found all this neat. period correct. speed equipment for the 1100cc VW engine.
Eagle cam
New pistons. cylinders etc.
New valves
Very seriously ported and polished heads
Blueprinted and Balanced
High pressure oil pump ( 30 lbs at idle )
Judson Supercharger
New special carburetor
Marvel top oiler ( for the Supercharger )
Judson electronic magneto
and LOTS of Chrome and Bling
Drivetrain is a VW standard shift 4 speed with the rear drum brakes replaced with rear disc brakes. I changed to the discs because I wasn't running front brakes. ( the front end is so light that you would NEVER want to lock it up ). so I wanted the best brakes that I could get for the rear. …. and besides. the car doesn't weigh more than 1200 pounds…!
This T has the kind of paint job that I probably would have done back then. it's painted RED. not particularly smooth or shiny …. and in today's world I suppose you would have to say it sucks. ( but it is Red ) I wanted a paint job that if it got scratched. I not only wouldn't care. but I can fix it at home with a paintbrush. one of those “low care and who cares” paint jobs. it is however. a decent and respectable looking paint job.
Other stuff that comes with it:
New Top Frame ( for a convertible top )
Custom Tailored Car Cover
6 volt battery trickle charger
This Car is registered as a 1966 Volkswagen. ( it really saves on insurance )
OK…. I've about told you the whole story…. I'm starting the NO reserve at $5. 00…. remember everything is NEW and I have considerably more in the T than that. ( luckily. I never tell my wife “exactly” how much I spend on my projects ). so as long as I get “some” money back on them. it keeps her happy. no kidding. it really makes her VERY happy. and when momma's happy. everyone's happy.
