Up for sale is my 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.     "Woody" is a Classic in all original nearly perfect condition.    She is fresh off of a $ 5. 00 paint job five months ago.   I am listing below the questions that I would ask if I were buying her.    Additionally. I find it shocking that so many vehicles on ebay are advertised as having ridiculously low miles including my fellow wagoneer brethren and the website wagonmaster dot com

About Me:
I have collected cars for quite a few years and still have a love for a well maintained older vehicle.    I am very particular about the vehicles that I own.     People often advertise something as "like new" or "show quality".     I don't particularly like those terms because my idea and your idea of those terms might be something totally different.    This is not a show car.    Some folks might call it show quality.    But in my mind. show quality is similar and in some cases better than factory new.     Show quality vehicles have paint jobs that cost $ 10K + and are pristine and new.     Show cars aren't driven very often and usually sit in showrooms or garages with no fluids in them.    So by that definition. please don't expect a show car.     However. this vehicle is more than and excellent example of what you might find at a car show for this model.    It is worthy of being shown in a car show. but is not a show car.     In fact. I don't think you will find a better. original wagoneer anywhere.     A restored version maybe. but not original.     Sorry I'm so long winded here. but I just want to be sure you know what perspective I am coming from when I describe the vehicle.

Why am I selling?
We just purchased a 2nd home for our personal use and have another fat mortgage.    I have promised my wife that I would try to "uncomplicate" our lives.    So I am going to part ways with a few toys.    This is likely the hardest item for me to let go of.   I have sold off 4 of my cars already.     Our youngest daughter is heading off to college now and a driveway full of cars and only two people to enjoy them suddenly seems a little foolish.    We have plans to retire in the next 5-7 years so now comes another chapter in our lives.     As the old saying goes. "if you own too many things. after a while they start to own you. "

History:
This Jeep has never been involved in an accident or even a minor fender bender.     It was purchased brand new at Premier Jeep Eagle in Thornton. Colorado in February of 1989.    I am the 3rd owner and purchased the Jeep from a Doctor friend in Colorado in 2007 and had it shipped in a covered Car Hauler to Western North Carolina.    At the time the Wagoneer had 84. 00 original miles.    The Wagoneer has 113. 00 original documented miles.   I have paperwork and receipts that document the mileage its whole life.    Just a few mileage examples recorded are as follows:

7/19/90                -          7. 22 miles
3/1/93                  -          26. 35 miles
10/28/95              -          37. 48 miles
4/10/96                -          39. 01 miles
7/1/98                  -          55. 42 miles
11/16/99              -          64. 00 miles
5/11/00                -          65. 98 miles
12/03/03              -          75. 53 miles
12/4/08                -          90. 38 miles
6/3/10                  -          102. 02 miles
11/1/11                -          108. 99 miles
Today                  -          113. xx miles

Exterior:
It has brand New Factory Color Correct Burgundy paint.    It was completed 3 months ago by Hilliard Classic Auto Refinishing.   I had to wait in line 4 months and then had to wait 3 months for it to be finished.   The total was $ 5. 00. 00.   At the time of painting there was one rust spot on the rear drivers rocker about the size of a half dollar.    It was cut out and new metal was welded in.      I can provide pictures on request as my daughter participated as part of her Senior Project.    Woody has no rust at all.     One of the reasons is primarily because it lived all of its live prior to the last 6 1/2 years in Colorado.     Colorado is a "NO SALT" state and cars don't rust there because it is a very dry climate and in winter the temperatures gets so cold that salt doesn't work.     If you know anything about the last generation of Wagoneers. you know that they were factory painted with a faulty clear coat that tended to peel over time.    To give you an idea what kind of vehicle this is. the original clear did not begin to fade or peel until 2008. when it was 19 years old.     The paint is very shiny and well painted by professionals.     The wood grain on the exterior is original and is immaculate and shiny.   That said there are a couple of very minor areas in the wood that have flaws.    The largest is about the size of a pencil eraser and isn't noticeable but is there.     The bumpers are very nice but fall short of being "factory" new.   That said they show very well and are straight.    The rubber on the Wagoneer is also very good and still soft and not at all dry rotted.    Rubber on the bumpers is also excellent.    Mirrors and Glass are clear and not fogged.    The chrome on Woody is excellent and isn't scratched or faded.    Even the front chrome grill of which parts are plastic. shows very well.     The Jeep has only spent a few nights in her life outside.

Wheels and tires:
Wheels are original to the SUV are Aluminum Mag Style and correct to the year.     They also show nicely but again aren't "factory" new.    Center caps are nice and show well.    Whitewall Tires are 2 years old and have about 70% tread left.   See Penny tread photo for reference.

Undercarriage:
Excellent for these wagoneers.   Clean and unmolested.   This Jeep has never seen a lift kit or even non-stock sized tires.   It has also never been taken 4 wheeling. though it has been incredible in the snow.   New tailpipes and mufflers where put on earlier this year.    New shocks installed 1 week ago.

Interior:
The interior is all original.     The carpet and floor mats are excellent.    It helps that they actually put real carpet in these vehicles.    The carpet is free from stains. bleached out areas and is still soft and pliable.    The floor mats in the front are original to 1989.    The driver mat you will notice has some slight wear from where the heal of the drivers front foot would sit.    The floor mats further attest to the originality and lack of mileage and use on Woody.     The dash is free from cracks.    There is a slight warp that has developed over time. but when I say slight it is very slight.     I have replaced the headliner (a wagoneer engineering failure) with a brand new matching headliner that will never sag.    The steering wheel isn't sticky and doesn't show much wear.    I have an aftermarket wheel cover on it that matches the interior very well. but the original is just as nice.    The seats are also very nice.     The back seats show almost no wear at all and could easily be mistaken for being only a year or two old.    The passenger front seat shows very similar to the back seat and is very nice.    The drivers seat left verticle panel shows a little wear on the leather.   It is not split or cracked. but shows some wear from getting in and out.     I replaced the very front panel of this seat when it cracked a few years ago and it is now new.     The center armrest is in good condition also. but has a few cracks in the piping that surrounds the leather.    It is minor but it is there.     All seat belts work properly and the belts themselves aren't greasy or stained.    They look very good.     The door panels are all good on all four doors and the rear tailgate as well.    They are free from stains. wear marks. cracks. fading and look like new.    I have the original jack. seat harnesses and an extra seat belt for holding down cargo in the rear.

Electronics and options:
All gauges work accurately and all of the time.   The lenses aren't fogged. scratched or blurry.   The radio works perfectly and picks up better than my new Mercedes.   I have Sirius in the car now it works fine with the radio.    Cassette. Clock. Digital Climate. etc. . all work properly.     Turn signals. cruise. bright lights. defogger. all work properly as well.     Power mirrors. rear glass. and power windows all work properly.     In fact. I had a power window fail a few years ago and it was so difficult to fix. I went ahead and fixed all four at the same time so I wouldn't have to fool with them anymore.     I also replaced the rear window motor even though it still worked.     Power door locks (a wagoneer weakness).    The power door locks do work.    They do not work always work on the first try.   However. repeatedly pushing the button will make them work.    Sometimes once. sometimes seven times.     Sometimes it is easier to reach over and pull the lock up.     The A/C is very cold and will literally freeze you out of the vehicle.   I'll put Woody against any vehicle on earth for cold air.     The heater and its various settings work well too.    The power seats work perfectly.

Engine and mechanical:
Oil. fluids. filters and other maintenance has always been performed regularly.      Woody has a 360 V8 with Automatic Transmission.     Both are original to the vehicle and work properly as they should.     The 4x4 also works extremely well.    We live in the Mountains of North Carolina at 3. 00ft.   (Quick story:  We live on a hill and two X-mas ago we got 18" of snow.    Our driveway is very steep and on the North side.     We host 40 family and friends each Christmas Dinner.     The Wagoneer made 16 trips up and down the hill that day.    The following so called 4x4 vehicles failed to make it up:  Toyota 4 runner. Subaru Outback. F-250. F-150. Honda Pilot. Hummer H2. Chevy Trailblazer. Chevy Tahoe and drumroll. Range Rover.    Just saying. ).     We replaced the radiator 3 years ago.     Battery is 2. 5 years old.    I have several receipts for work done over the years.     I have many receipts for other work that has been done over the years.    As of today. the Wagoneer doesn't need anything.   She is heading for an oil change next week.   She got new wipers 2 months ago.    Two pumps of the gas and she cranks right up.     Woody also has the much needed Electronic Fuel Pump installed that did not come stock. but should have. on the Grand Wagoneer.     A new thermostat was also installed last week.

I think this covers most of the bases. however if you have questions feel free to give me a shout or send me an email.     I encourage you to come by and take a look and see for yourself.     If you decide to purchase Woody and cannot make it here. I will attempt to assist you in coordinating shipping arrangements.     If you do decide to make an offer. please be reasonable as both you and I likely have better things to do.    If you want a reference point about these vehicles. please visit the following dot com websites "grandwagoneer" and "wagonmaster".   I'll put mine up against these anytime and for a reasonable amount of money.    Even if mine is 80% as good as these it is still a tremendous value and I can document my miles.     FYI. For those of you who might recognize my writing or my name. I sold my 1987 Wagoneer which was a very nice driver that needed a repaint and a headliner for $ 6. 00. 00 which was silver. not to be confused with this one.

Cash. Money Order. Wire Transfer acceptable.    Credit card is an option. but you will have to pay the 3% or so that they charge me.    My name is Joe and my number is 828-371-two5eight5.    Make me a reasonable offer !!!!
