Up for auction is a 1985 Jeep CJ 7 Hard Top 6 cylinder 4 speed manual. Unmolested. This is a frame on restoration. The majority of the vehicle is factory original with the exception of the paint. seats. shocks. and carpet.
The Good -
Mechanically sound and everything mechanical operates as it should. All gauges. bulbs. and switches work. Starts right up. goes down the road straight. and stops on a dime. The seats are all brand new Best Top vinyl and the carpet is also brand new (ACC Du Pont cut pile in black)
Only 77. 50 original miles 1985 Sanyo high power cassette deck (refurbished) and 6 x 9 speakers in Sound Wedge boxes. Original paper behind speaker openings in the dash. Perfect windshield. Perfect original dash pad.

New Duralast battery. Many new lines. hoses. bulbs. and belts. All fresh fluids.

Things to know -

A very tiny drip at the rear main seal. Maybe a drip a day.
All 5 tires have less than 500 miles on them. but they do not all match. The spare tire may very well be the original spare. a standard Goodyear Wrangler. Three of the tires on the ground are Goodyear Wrangler APT. The fourth tire on the ground is a Goodyear Wrangler SRA. I have not changed them because chances are the new owner will have their own preference in tires and tire size. All are original size 235 75 r 15. 4 new standard Wranglers to bring it back to stock would be easy to find new and inexpensive. Just a little bit of surface rust barely showing on the front fenders behind the tires (typical spot). It's not getting any worse is isn't very noticeable. Any other rust appears to have been removed or repaired. There is a new floor on the drivers side. It is not a one piece replacement. but it is solid. I have a brand new one piece replacement but it isn't really needed at this time. The paint is not original. It shines up very well with very few scratches. but there are a couple of little paint runs on those front fenders. The hard top looks to have been painted black with texture. There is a spot on the very top where that paint peeled and was touched up. There is some over-spray from the new paint on the rear bumper that could probably be buffed off or have the bumper repainted. and a little bit on the edges of the dash. I have new "Jeep" front fender stickers to go with it (paid $50) in case the new owner wants to clean up those fenders. I don't think that is worth doing yet.
I have all 5 chrome wheels. 4 are on the ground. The current spare wheel is a white factory wheel with a Best Top tire cover over it. The fifth chrome wheel would need to be polished and then mounted. Needs rear seat belts.

This is a frame on restoration. It's not perfect or the price would be double. The paint job isn't perfect. but it's not too bad either. The frame is super solid without any rust. Maybe the washers under the body mounts could be replaced due to a little rust. but that and the little bit on the front fenders is all I see. The underside has been painted and lightly undercoated. The last three owners (including me) have contributed to the restoration. I have not done it all. so I don't have all receipts (receipts from previous owners don't do you a lot of good anyway). I believe this Jeep went from Florida. to Kansas City. to Eastern Nebraska just a year or two ago. It's in great shape for being almost 30 years old. but not quite perfect. I know my way around CJ-7's. 'm very picky. and I think it's in darn good shape. It is up to you to ask questions and/or come and see it to truly determine it's condition for yourself. Each person looks at things differently and I have described this Jeep based on my opinion and what facts I have. I am not the original owner.

Please ask questions or come and see it. Message me and we can talk on the phone if you like.

I will not deliver. but I will do may part on this end to help load or make it available for transport.

Only bid if you are serious and have the money to buy it.

A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder of the balance due must be paid within 7 days.

I do not need any help selling this vehicle and this is not a must sell situation.

Jeep is for sale locally so it could be removed at any time before reserve is met. Reserve is set for what I have in it.

No warranty of any kind. As is.

On Oct-03-13 at 19:21:28 PDT. seller added the following information:

To clarify the surface rust - There is a little on the passenger side at the tub/fender seam and one possible little spot on the sheet metal overlay of the fender behind the tire. That spot may be just run in the paint. There are a couple of spots on the drivers side in the same two places. I have left it alone thinking that is wasn't noticeable enough or bad enough to be worth the repair. If you want perfect and would want to repair it. they seem small enough that some rust treatment and body filler may do the trick. but you never know exactly what is going on under the paint.

I do not intend on disclosing the reserve amount at this time.
