Additional photos can be provided by request. Viewing is highly recommended so that the buyer fully appreciates what they are buying.
Bought as a French import in May 2010 as a motorcaravan in a very sorry state we have spent the last 3 years bringing it up to it's current presentable and roadworthy condition.
The motorcaravan is sold with MOT until end of November. is taxed (tax exempt) and currently insured.
Mileage currently 62. 40 km likely to increase with use. The engine is the later 1911 cc Petrol ID engine (the one to have!). Fuel consumption is fairly versatile 18-30 mpg dependent on driving style. Cruising speed is 50-55 mph.

What has been done:
Engine removed and reinstalled by Simon Doe (H van Garage). it was noted that the engine ran smoothly. quietly and had good compression. The clutch has plenty of life. Gearbox works faultlessly and smoothly.
Radiator re-cored by Guildford Radiators with new thermostat.
Starter motor rebuilt by Broadway Electrical.
Welding repairs to subframe.
Repairs to bodywork by welding or fibreglass dependent on size and location of repair.
Hand painted in Green. Does not look professional. many drip marks and already starting to fade but certainly in-keeping with its rustic. utilitarian. historic French appeal. At the very least the heavy-duty paint is effectively preserving the metalwork beneath ready for any future respray.
Braking system overhauled with parts replaced where necessary. Brake shoes have plenty of life.
Four good Michelin tyres are fitted all have plenty of tread. One worn Michelin carried as the spare.
Internally the insulation and wood paneling has been replaced where necessary and the walls are lined in linoleum to protect from damp. The wooden furniture and cladding is varnished heavily to also protect from damp. The seats/bed and curtains have been reupholstered to match and are removed and stored indoors over winter.
The caravan has 2 gas burning stoves. a two-way (gas/12 v electric) Electrolux fridge. and sink. The large table with seating for six collapses into a very large and comfy bed capable of accommodating up to four people(!) A leisure battery powers the 12 v lighting and electrics and is entirely separate from the caravans electrical system. A small solar panel trickle charges the battery. Storage includes a large cupboard. under-seat cabinets. a cupboard above the cooker and cupboard/work surface for food preparation and cooking utensils storage.
A Yale intruder alarm and 12 v LPG and carbon monoxide alarm are also installed to make for safe camping.

Future Improvements:
We would have carried out the following works had we intended to keep the vehicle.
Rust prevention to underside. The factory applied underseal is 46 years old and would benefit from being removed and new underseal reapplied to improve the longevity of the van. At the same time some cosmetic welding/fibreglassing work would be beneficial where some non-structural sections have deteriorated. None are MOT items which is why they have not yet been attended to.
Items bought but not yet fitted include an Eberspecher 12 v petrol fueled heater for the caravan and a CD/MP 3/bluetooth/USB stereo and 4 sony surround sound speakers. If the asking price is met these shall be included but not installed.

We are a young couple who have loved reconditioning the motorcaravan and enjoyed camps. picnics and days out to the beach with it but we are trying to save for a house deposit as first time buyers and the van is an expense we cannot afford and an investment that needs to now make a return.
A full service shall be carried out prior to sale. As this is a private sale no warranty is of course given or implied. Although I have tried to be as honest as possible. please appreciate that the vehicle is 46 years old and of quite primitive design. We will however try and offer advise and assistance to the buyer wherever possible should they require as 3 years of experience and knowledge of the vehicle would prove invaluable to the sale.
I cannot emphasize however the awesomeness of this van. No matter where it goes it attracts attention. Other drivers and pedestrians double-take as you pass and it is not possible to pass through a fuel station without making friends with everyone on site. It is considerably more awesome and attracts far more attention at any classic car event than a VW camper. It is also much larger. The most amount of fun you can possibly have behind the wheel of a vehicle without losing your license.
The van absolutely must only go to an owner who can appreciate it's quirky unorthodox awesomeness. If you have any doubt about it's impracticalities vs. awesomeness please please please spend a little more and go and buy a common-as-muck Volkswagen.
