Citroen H Y Van 1972 Catering Conversion Street Food Events Excellent Example

Introduction For sale is my lovely 1972 Citroen H Y van which I bought in 2013. Unusually for an H van it left the Citroen factory painted yellow! The van has covered approximately 32000 Km (19884 miles) from new and is very original.   
Catering Conversion I arranged for Tudor Catering Trailers Ltd in Weston super Mare to carry out the catering conversion as they have a lot of experience in carrying out such work on Citroen H vans (see their website). Being a professional conversion. the quality of the work must not be confused with other H van conversions where no insulation is installed and the fittings come from a DIY store. (Look at the inside of the roof. if you can see the corrugated panel work then the roof is not insulated and you will roast on a hot day!).  The conversion included the fitting of a gas powered water urn and gas fittings to the fryer (fryers have been removed). An under counter fridge. water pump for the sink and above counter lights require the use of a generator. The generator I used was converted to run on gas so only one fuel needed to be carried. The counters and cupboards in the van are stainless steel and the fold out serving counter is made from solid oak. An under counter till drawer is fitted complete with key. The stainless steel worktop by the sliding side door is removable so access through the door is not compromised. A storage space above the cab has been created with the partition door doubling as its door as well.   
Mechanical The van retains its original 4 cylinder 1. 9 litre petrol engine and will cruise at 55 mph quite happily. One key operates all locks. The van is Road Fund Licence exempt and has a current MOT which expires on 17. 04. 17. Mechanical work undertaken in my ownership includes the fitting of a complete stainless steel exhaust system. a set of engine gaskets which cured an oil leak. distributor cap and rota. battery leads and a new headlamp lense. I have carried out regular oil changes every 3000 miles (very important as there is no oil filter with this design of engine) and recently the brakes have been bled and adjusted along with the clutch pedal's travel.   
Bodywork The bodywork is structurally sound and thoroughly under sealed underneath. I have coated the box sections with rust inhibitor. There is some cosmetic corrosion in the usual H van places around the headlamp brackets. bottom of the sliding door and at the bottom of the rear lights. Parts are readily available from Citroen specialists both in the UK and abroad. Parts recently fitted include new front door window slider frames and rubber door stays.    Summary This is a great opportunity to acquire a sorted H van with all the hard work and running around completed. Just choose what you are going to sell and install the appropriate equipment. The van is on the button and will drive anywhere and its bright yellow colour stands out beautifully on a green field!
