1973 Volkswagen Camper

1973 VW Camper 



Currently sorn and needs mot & finishing off. nbsp; Needs a new home asap

will be tax exempt as of 2014 due to new legislation 

Its a 1600cc. manual. with a pop up roof. hasn't been on the road for a while but everything now works so most likely go thru the mot without to much work. the engine now runs nicely and all the lights work as they should.  

We bought this camper last year as a non runner that had sat for a while as an unfinished project. it had its welding done by the previous owner and had a quick respray before we bought it. we had the engine tuned and got it running without too many issues. some new parts and away it went. the brakes were seized but have been free'd up and are working just fine. we also had some rewiring taken care of as lots of thigns didn't work however now its all working fine

Its not perfect although the pics make it look really nice. there are a few rust bubbles coming thru here n there and the paintwork isn't as good as the pics make it seem but in general it looks pretty smart. its 40 years old so has had some repairs done. its had welding done in the past as most of them have.  

Its had a new battery and new service parts to get it running nicely. starts fine and runs well. as its not mot'd/taxed it hasn't been driven on the roads. it has been moved it up n down 20-30yards back n fourth and it seems fine. the brakes work fine as does the steering/gears etc 

The popup roof works fine but it does have a couple of splits in the plastic windows. nothing too major and probably can be repaired without too much fuss. needs a few other bits to finish here n there. it needs door rubbers as a couple are missing.  

An interior was made earlier in the year as we had planned on having it on the road by now. its got a R&R 3/4 width bed. new wood cabinets covered in vinyl wrap to make them look expensive and posh. new lino flooring and all the inside has been covered in flexible thin carpet that they have in modern campervans. the old white paint inside was grotty so rather than painting we decided to cover it over and make it feels a little warmer at the same time. also has a small sink and cold running water. 240v mains electric was fitted and a couple of new 12v lights 

To summerise it needs its mot and a couple of minor finishing bits but all in all a smart looking camper that doesn't really need much to be enjoyed. We are not in the position or have the time to be able to finish it off unfortunately with a house move upon us we have to let it go to someone that can finish and enjoy it like we were so looking forward to doing.
