1979 Volkswagen Transporter Bus Westfalia Camper Van

Well preserved. unrestored bus. Originally a sage green bus. the interior is still what it was when new. The exterior had a color change sometime in the 80's when the puke green of the 70's was no longer popular. but now it's back in favor. A new paint job back to the original color would really compliment this old bus. The Westy package includes a sink. ice box. skeeter net. child's cot ( missing poles ) and bay window privacy curtains. The fabric of the interior is in really good shape as are all of the cabinets.

Body & Rust. most old VeeDub's all have rust. this one however is very solid and original with exception to two areas of minor concern. One area is below the door on the passenger side and the other is the battery tray. See pictures on my flickr page for more in depth detail. The floor pans. dog legs. frame. rocker panels etc. are all 100% solid and only show a little bit of surface rust.

Mechanically. It starts easy. still fuel injected. runs great. no smoke out the exhaust and no knocking going on. I was told the engine was rebuilt in 2012 but don't have any documentation to back it up. however it does run very good. It does have a pretty good oil leak going on. From what I can see. I think it's coming from the push rod tubes.  There's a mystery squeak coming from the engine bay. I thought it was the belt but found out it's not. it seems to only happen at low rpm and is intermittent.  My guess is it's some loose cooling tin making racket when the engine is at just the right rhythm and temperature. but I dunno. I'm not a mechanic. it might be a cricket in there. The 4 speed transmission shifts like it should. although there is a bit of slop in the shifter linkage as would be expected. but it goes into all the gears and doesn't grind. or pop out or anything unusual. The clutch feels good too. I put some new brake pads on the front & it seems to stop fairly well. The E-Brake works too. So. it runs. drives & stops.

Electronics. All lights. signals and gauges work. as do the wipers & the horn. Not too sure about the heat.

Canvas. the original canvas is in remarkable condition with the exception to 2 small slits. where it got snagged on the lock down latch.

Overall summary. . /u> It's a great old bus that's been well cared for and could be continually used just as it is. or if you wanted to restore one. this is a great one to start with as it's all there.

Can you drive this home ? Well of course you can. I'm a dealer and can give you some temp tags to be on your way. BUT. remember it's a 38 year old VW that has not been driven much the past 5 years. It runs and drives pretty good but no guarantees as to how far you'll get. I only say that b/c of the age and the fact that it is unrestored. The tires are not dry rotted or bald. but they're not new either. nor is any other rubber such as fuel lines. brake hoses etc. I'm just saying. there's allot that can go wrong simply due to the age of the vehicle. so if you can trailer it. I'd strongly recommend bringing your trailer or have it transported. but if you're the adventurous soul and love a good challenge. nbsp;then go ahead.

Dear,
I'm interested in the Volkswagen T2 Westfalia of 1979. We are from Belgium, could it be overcome?

How much would this be for the total?

With kind Regards

Billie Tourlouse
