Fun classic looking for a new home. We have had this beauty for 6 years and all replacement parts installed have been OEM. Car kept as original as possible. Stereo system installed in glovebox with external speakers placed on back deck…. original radio still works. Runs great. converted to 12 volt. new black wall tires last year. Car only on the road from May to October and garaged for cold weather months.
Hard to part with this piece of nostalgia.

Some history on the 65 Bug as I know it. We bought this car from Hampton Classic  Motors. Hampton. NH in 2007. We have enjoyed this car for the last 6 years as the couple from Haverhill. MA who owned it before we did. We have used this car from May to October each year and it has been garaged during the cold weather months. We have put approximately 7. 00KM (4200 Miles) on it in the 6 years. The car has never been driven in inclement weather. at night and always with the top down.

 

I have made repairs to the car such as plugs. coil. distributor. wiring and battery. I installed a volt meter and updated radio in the glove box. a power amp under the passenger seat and speakers in the rear panel. None of these have made any modifications to the originality of the car. As far as I know. the car is original. not restored. and the only new component is the roof and liner which are impeccable. This car is beautiful as it stands and is not in need of a restoration. I have taken and posted pictures of as much detail of the car as I can. http://www. pbase. com/rjcardellojr/65_vw_beetle  The rust that shows in the underside is actually under the battery compartment and will be an easy patch.   The mechanic who  did the inspection and tune-up last week was clear that the rust on the side support bars was superficial and did not cause any structural issues. These could be handled with cosmetic body work. Both VIN plates are replacement plates by the State of California and I do not know when or why this was done. It has not been an issue registering the car in NH currently or in MA previously. I have a clear title from the previous owner as well as a bill of sale.

 

I have the two new replacement chrome trim pieces for the running boards and will send them with the car along with all manuals. books. all weather cover and support paperwork that I have accumulated.

 

I have been asked if this car could handle a long drive instead of having it shipped. This car is in excellent working order and all  safety elements such as lights. tires. wipers (replaced last week). battery (new last year) are in working order. Does that mean I would take it on a 2. 00 ride. probably not but I do not think that is the purpose of a 48 year old vehicle. I have no problem or concerns driving this car with any member of my family. including my grandson. but we only drive it for pleasure and not for a cross country excursion. I am sure that the cost of shipping this vehicle anywhere in the US would make more sense than pushing a long haul. This is a warm weather vehicle as it sits as there is no heat or defrost though the channels still exist and can be restored.
