The boxy Volkswagen Transporter arrived on American shores in 1949. its effect and influence was immediate as there was truly nothing like it. Using standard Beetle components it was easy to maintain. find parts for and generally it was the most effective way to move small groups of people.

 

Dubbed the Microbus. Volkswagen’s unique transporter survived through the decades and evolved into several different vehicles. Its combination of economy and practicality made it an instant hit with the flower power generation of the 1960s. Their boxy design made them ideal canvases. whether it was adorned with political slogans or Grateful Dead decals

and flowers. Of these Microbuses. the rarest is the 21 Window. as shown here. It was in many ways the Cadillac of Volkswagens as it was adorned with lots of trim and amenities otherwise absent on many of the other standard buses.

 

This bus is a 1967 and so therfore it was the first year of the fractory 12 volt system. Not a converted 12 volt like many out there. It is also a factory walk-through model making it quite rare.

The delightful California Volkswagen presented here has received a no-expense-spared restoration by two expert California Volkswagen restoration facilities. Started by one and then completed by noted marque expert Joel Horne of Low Speed Resto in Napa. CA. Complete with its factory sliding sunroof this Microbus is fit for any locale. whether it is a concours or afternoon at the beach. Finished in two-tone Cumulus White and Sea Blue and correct interior. it is attractively completed with deluxe features such as the factory radio. clock.  coat hooks. grab rails and jail bars on the rear windows.

 

The extensive ground up restoration was completed in April 2013. Running on a factory 12 volt system and prepared for any adventure with its correct spare tire. seat belts. and front disc brakes. clearly no detail was missed for both ease of operation and pleasure of ownership. This is one of the finest examples available and a perfect addition to any collection as it will surely bring a smile to all that see it. Deposit

 

Buyer must contact us within 24 hours of accepted offer. and make arrangements for payment at that time. A $500 deposit is due within 3 business days of listing’s end to secure the vehicle.

Payment of Balance Due

The remainder is due (plus applicable fees and taxes) within 7 days. If no contact is made within 24 hours we reserve the right to re-list the vehicle or sell it otherwise. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle.

 

Additional Fees and Taxes

All California residents must pay applicable state and local tax. title and license fees. Out of state buyers are responsible for their own state taxes and fees. Out of state buyers are responsible for all state. county. city taxes and fees. as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered.

Shipping

 

The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges.   We will assist the buyer with finding a shipping company. We assume no responsibility for damages incurred after leaving our premises. If the vehicle is going to be shipped. full payment must be received before the vehicle is delivered to the shipping company.
