Due to too many projects and not enough time. my wife and I have decided to see our wonderful little smile-maker go to a good home. We purchased the Met about 2 years ago from the family that had owned it since the late 60's. after it being given to them by their next door neighbor as a token of appreciation for looking after her for several years. It is originally from California. and was sold new from Ward S Lee Nash in Santa Ana. Ca. We have the original bill of sale from the dealer as well as the original license plates for the car. We also have the black plates that were issued in 1963. There are also registration cards going back to about 1970. an original owners handbook. and a few receipts for things like tires purchased at Pep Boys in 1970. The car is primarily a mostly unrestored original car. When we found it. it had been stored by the family and not driven since 1982. as the sticker on the black license plate shows. The family did start the car occasionally. and it fired right up when we came out to see it. The paint is the original color of Yellow and White. It had some areas that were too badly faded. so we had those areas touched up and professionally matched and painted. The paint has a very nice patina and all looks very  nice. It is 60 years old. so there are a few nicks and scrapes but looks great for its age. It would have been a shame to paint the whole car. The interior is mostly original. There are a couple of small tears in the seat but overall still looks good. The headlining is in good original condition. It still has original rubber floor matting (these cars were not originally fitted with carpet) which is somewhat aged. The front matting was replaced with an original piece more recently and overall shows nice touch of originality. We have also had seat belts installed for safety. All the gauges and electrics work. including the radio! We went through all the mechanicals. including cleaning out the gas tank. replacing all the clutch and brake hydraulics. tune up. the fitting of new tires. and the original carburetor rebuilt by the Met Pit Stop here in California. It runs and drives really nicely. I did a compression test and the results were within factory spec. Although we have no way to document it. we were told by the owners that the mileage was original. The only thing you may dislike are all the looks and thumbs up you will get. especially at your local car show-where it is appreciated as a real survivor. As a 60 year old basically unrestored car. please be realistic in your expectations if you are to bid. We hope our little Met will go to a good home where it can be loved and cared for as it has been all its life. Thanks for looking!
