The Austin-Healey Sprite Mark 1 affectionately called Bugeye is an unmistakable work of art. About 49000 were made in the three year run of 1958-61. This 1960 four speed convertible borrows assets and features from many previous vehicles such as the Jaguar D-type's rear suspension design and its engine from the British Morris Minor 1000 and the Austin A 35. The manufacturer did not design the car with exterior door handles adding to the smooth sleek exterior. Also by moving access of the rear compartment from a boot lid to behind the foldable seats not only was extra baggage space provided but this also greatly increased structural integrity. We have on order a new vinyl top that is included in this price which completes the look of this classic.
