DESCRIPTION:

This vehicle is an Original unrestored

example and a relatively easy restorer.

The car has had an older repaint in what appears to be the original colour scheme. The silver paint on the hood and trunk lid has heavy patina. There some typical older repairs to the lower quarters and in the dog leg area ahead of the rear wheels which is common for this model Dodge. There is some typical rust through in the trunk floor. but overall the trunk floor is original with no evidence of prior repairs with surface rust.

There is some damage to the stainless trim below the grille & above bumper which is not seen in the photos that was done in transport but can be seen in the last photo if you look closely. There are some minor dents scuffs and dings here and there accumulated over 56 years of use. but overall the body is Very. Very STRAIGHT with good original panel fit.

This Original example does not have the extent of rust which is typically found on this model Dodge which makes it a relatively easy restorer.

The car is relatively low mileage for its age. The engine and drivetrain look original to the car and undisturbed. The engine does run but may benefit from recommissioning or a tune up due to long term storage. The engine oil and auto trans fluid look OK.

The brakes are inoperative due to long term storage.

Apart from relatively minor damage to the drivers seat & the top of the rear seat - which can be relatively easy to repair with NOS materials from SMS - the interior is great original condition

one of about five known 2 Door Hard t ops in both the Matador or Polara trim in Australia.

The most recent publicised USA auction sales of the 1960 Dodge Matador / Polara 2 door hardtop include a restored example which sold for $85. 00 USD and an example with an amateur restoration with apparent poor panel fit and sub-standard body work was recorded to have sold for $56. 00 USD.
