Our Little Miss Sunshine is up for sale!

She has gone through an extensive. nbsp;expensive. nbsp;meticulous. and pain staking restoration with mega attention detail.

She should be in a showroom in her current condition but was made to hit the road and go camping!

For starters. her original paint. accident. and rust free body was prepped for new paint by removing all trim. bumpers. lights. nbsp;and accessories. including pop top!
This is the only way to do it right just like the factory would have painted her back in the day to prevent overspray. etc.
Minor dings and scratches were fixed and 6000 dollars later. she now sports a Dupont 2 stage factory yellow with 3 coats of clear. color sanded and buffed to perfection.
I can now show off her beautiful shine not shying away from those up close photos everyone else avoids.

I decided to paint her pop top body color once removed for restoration to match her body to give a more modern look. Factory top was white in color as some of you might know.
All front luggage area tie downs were removed. refinished and installed with all stainless steel nuts/bolts/washers.
While all the pieces were off her body. I upgraded her bumpers to late model OEM VW bumpers. Bumpers were painted to match with same attention to detail and finish.
Headlights are OEM VW restored European modern square style units with new Sylvania Ultra halogen bulbs. much brighter than stock.
Sleeker newer style factory power mirrors were painted body color and installed. I adjust them manually to keep things simple but a switch could be hooked up if one desired.
Front end was finished off with a new GERMAN emblem as she deserves.

Brand new rear side marker lights with new seals.
Pop top and luggage rack have new seals to keep the moisture and rain out and new Westfalia decals finish the pop top paint and restoration.
She also has an aftermarket sunroof in pop top which also tilts. a really neat upgrade that gets more light and fresh air in without having to open the tent windows.

No expense was spared with installing the brand new white cotton/hemp 3 window pop top (the best and most expensive one offered by GoWesty) http://www. gowesty. com/ec_view_details. php?id=3657
Fabric is nice and taught when top is up.

She has a brand new front windshield with integrated tint strip. . . no more old pitted windshield after seeing many miles on the road.
New front washer nozzles and new Michelin wiper blades keep the windshield dirt and bug free.

I upgraded her side camping hookups with new GoWesty units which are a superior in design to the factory ones and are super easy to use. More details on their webside:

All the door handle seals. escutcheon slider door seal are brand new.
All door handles as well as the front wipers were completely stripped and refinished in satin black.
Slider door handle was replaced with brand new German unit as original was slightly worn and did not meet my standards of operation.

Onto the camping equipment:
Kitchen area is nice and clean and has not seen much use.
Both burners work perfectly and water pours out of faucet with twist of knob.
New drain lines and pee trap installed to ensure proper drainage.
Propane tank was completely dismantled. inspected and filled to top and bottom plate was power coated. a work of art in itself.
Refrigerator works on electric mode and I have never figured out the propane mode so can not voucher for its function.
I have always carried an ice cooler when camping and use the fridge for extra storage.
She is mechanically sound and quiet as a fox on the road with excellent power.
1. 9 liter engine was completely rebuilt at 187. 00k with receipts.
Only a few thousand miles have been logged on since rebuild.
She starts right up and purs like a kitten. No engine lights or issues and of course. no oil leaks!
She accelerates quicker and pulls stronger than 2. 1 liter vanagons I have driven.
She passes california's strict emission standards.
Engine area is also picture perfect. Pictures speak for themselves. but all engine external bits have been refinished or new including sandblasted and refinished headers. new muffler and tail pipe with new stainless steel hardware. and refinished engine tin.
New Bosch cap. new rotor. new spark plugs and wires. and new serpentine belt used.
Fuel lines inspected and in top notch condition.
I just did a radiator service with complete flush. expansion and reservoir tank removal and cleansing. and topped her off with new phosphate free coolant.

4 speed transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding or weird noises or popping out of gear. Clutch slave cylinder has been flushed and bled to put fresh fluid in the system.
I did a real number on the braking system and refreshed the whole system with new rotors. new calipers. new pads. and new brake hoses up front.
Rears got the same treatment with new drums. new wheel cylinders. and new shoes.
Everything that I didn't replace was cleaned and painted new.
Entire brake system was then flushed.
Needless to say. she stops on a dime.

Front axles have new inner and outer wheel bearings and seals and rears axles also have new axle bearings and seals. While everything was apart. I went ahead and put in new upper and lower ball joints up front and new tie rods. New sway arm bushings also installed.
4 wheel alignment done after everything replaced.
Steering is nice and tight with no slop. shaking. or shimmering going down the highway and as good as new.
She now rides on 4 Monroe premium shock absorbers.

Wheels are upgraded to brand new GoWesty 15 inch alloys wrapped in brand new Michelin tires 215/65/15 very similar to long tread wear. load appropriate and traction of the older Michelin Hydro edge that is no longer in production. I also purchased a brand new spare just in case of a mishap on the road.

Interior of westy has been upgraded with later model front seats which have integrated arm rests. and comfortable recaro style cushions. very comfortable and xlnt for long trips. Both seats are captains chairs that rotate. swivel. and recline. Drivers seat does have a small wear mark the size of a dime as picture. I did not want to recover both seats for such a small imperfection to preserve the original tough and nice feeling VW OEM material.

The rear bench seat / bed pad has been completely replaced with brand new upholstery . I also had the rear back seat wrapped in vinyl to match the seats.

Upper bed is original and clean and in excellent condition.

Whole inside of westy has been detailed. shampooed and cleaned and smells brand new.

Tunes come from a brand new Alpine head unit with CD. bluetooth. IPOD hookup ready. New antennae to catch all the tunes outside.

To keep the road noise out and tunes inside. Dynamat insulation was used in both front doors. slider door and rear hatch. This stuff works really well and used extensively in competition stereo jobs.

I installed a Garmin Nuvi 1350T navigation unit which is super easy to use complete with owner's manual.

I have put a lot of pride. sweat. and joy into my restoration and will put it up against a GoWesty restoration any day in every detail. You may find my van much nicer in many ways as much attention to detail was taken sometimes far and beyond what was needed!

I have priced my westy at fraction of what GoWesty may charge for a similar restoration.
She has not been camped in since restoration and is stored in my garage.
I am to afraid to get a scratch on her. I hope her new owner will take her back on the road and enjoy another 30 years of service.
I would not hesitate to drive her across the country and back.

Please enjoy all the pictures and do not hesitate to ask me any questions or about any details I may have forgotten.
Inspections and personal drive tests are more than welcome.

FYI: Carfax and Autocheck is as clean as can be.

I will help the winning bidder find a shipper if you require it. or pick you up at the San Luis Obispo airport and drive her home.

Hello. /p>

I have received many emails requesting for more pictures other than the 4 posted on my ebay listing. On the top of the item description just before you read about my Westfalia. I have downloaded a file under the name Vuvox. it is the rectangular box with over 100 pictures. You may have missed it if you just quickly went onto reading about the Westy. Please go back to the top of the page and allow it to download and if you want larger picture just click on the small box window at the right corner of that link.
