VW Danbury Camper 1972, easy project.

 1972 VW Danbury Camper.

This is the 1972 crossover camper. it has the low early indicators on the front and the bigger engine bay.

I will describe it as best as I can.

This camper is from 1972. It has a 1641 engine that has only done a trip to the MOT station and back. its not really been run in and could do with some miles being put on it. The engine was built by a local engine builder as the original gave up. It has all new carb. manifold. dizzy and brand new alternator conversion. The wiring for the old dynamo is still in the engine bay if you want to convert it back to the dynamo. The engine bay is nice and tidy and I have a video of the engine running if you want me to forward it to you. It also has a brand new Empi twin quiet pack exhaust on for better fuel consumption. Unfortunately there is no power to the ignition and the camper wont start off the key.

The interior is as original. When I bought the camper a few years back it had no interior. I sourced a complete interior for the correct year to complete the interior as it should be. It even has all the original table with legs and has the legs for the cooker to stand on. The steering wheel that is on the picture of the cab wont be in with the sale. the camper will come with a brand new standard wheel. It also comes with brand new curtains and seat covers.

The worst part of the camper is the bodywork. It has rust in all the usual areas such as bottoms of the doors. sliding door bottom and around the windscreen. This rust hasnt stopped it from passing an MOT and the underside is solid. I have waxoiled all of the underside. there are a few flakes of surface rust but nothing major and nothiong structural. There is also some rust around the windows that will need repair.

The wheels that are on are Empi 5 spokes with tyres that have loads of tread. I have a set of original steel wheels that will be in with the sale. they are painted yellow and white and have no tyres. Also in with the sale is a cover and a brand new cab bunk bed.
