1971 FIAT 500L

1971 but in lovely condition and used every day in the summer by my Wife who works an a childrens day nursery where the car is affectionately known as 'Brum'
The car has had the Fiat 126 engine and gearbox fitted giving synchro gears and a massive(!) 24BHP.
Originally petrol blue in colour. the car was bare metal stripped and fully refurbished in 1999. At the same time it received it's striking Tango Orange colour whilst being used as a publicity vehicle for the Sureterm Insurance Services company. You can see the level of refurbishment that was undertaken when you look at the steering wheel and see that it has been sprayed the same colour as the rest of the car. there is a whole folder of info that goes with the car along with haynes manuals for both the car and the engine
most recently the car has had a new battery and an Electronic ignition system fitted to aid starting. it starts first time every time on the start lever now and no more messing about with point gaps. A replacement sunroof. new carpets throughout. Master brake cylinder and all new brake hoses. I also have new window surrounds for the side windows ( a little bit of rust showing through) but haven't had time to fit them yet.
bad points: (bear in mind it is 42 years old)A small amount of pain blistering on the bottom of the passenger door and at the rear of the passenger side door sill. The passenger door appears to have been not aligned correctly when it was put back on after the new carpet was fitted and has rubbed a bit of paint off the door jam. there is a small bit of paint that is missing above the off-side headlamp which will need treating and respraying sooner rather than latter. There are small rips in the back seat and drivers seatThere is a small parting of the fabric on the right had side of the passenger seat - nothing that a good set of replacement seat covers wouldn't solve.
as a classic car the road fund licence is freethe insurance is about 20p per year (joking but it is very cheap)!
