1958 Studebaker Transtar V8 Pickup RARE Best Offer Buys !!!!!! for sale
Current customer rating: (524 votes ) based onThis is a project in motion. My son purchased this truck to restore and spent my money buying it. now his attention & interest has shifted. I am not going to restore this truck. Someone started restoring this truck a few years ago. never quite completed it and walked away. she needs some restoration done again. This is an original V8 / 3-speed truck. This is an excellent candidate for restoration because a lot of the hard work is done. Mechanically the engine fires right up and appears healthy. sounds good and strong. I think it still may need clutch work or linkage adjustment. My assistant gets right in and drives the car. I can't get it to go for me. You can probably fiddle with her for a couple of hours and have it road worthy. from 10 feet it looks amazing until you look at the shiny paint up close--there is some rust in the bed that was painted over. It has flaws and some cracking & splintering all over (pics). Here is a partial list of what needs to be done. The seat appears original & needs redone. the driver door panel & crank is missing and needs repair. the interior dash has been restored and looks nice. the climate control levers are not here. dent in front bumper (pictured). I think these are the wrong tail lights. repair a leak in radiator. clean up the engine bay. rewire heat and vents. re-chrome emblems and letters. buy mirrors. sand or strip paint and refinish. missing rear bumper. new gas pedal. replace the headliner. and more.
The truck starts so easy and goes good. it needs a gas pedal before you can drive it. It has an alternator and is a 12V system. If you buy this car as a work in progress OR needing full restoration you will be very pleased. hence the low buy it now price. You can also just get a few parts do a few things and use it like it is. Mileage exempt it does not have 14. 00 miles. I don't want the Studebaker to sound too bad- because its not- but I am always concerned with correct disclosure on my end. Sold as is. come take a look if you want to. The Coker wide whitewalls are new and the hubcaps are cool but not original. All this being said------- these Studebaker Transtar trucks seem to be one of the big leaders in price in the collectible truck market. I have seen a couple 58 Studebaker Transtars actually sell in the high $40's and $50. oo's. All this being said. this is a cool truck that I am going to sell to the best offer.
