res·to·ra·tion

/ˌrɛstəˈreɪʃən/ Show Spelled [res-tuh-rey-shuhn] Show IPA

noun 1. the act of restoring; renewal. /span> revival. /span> or reestablishment. 2. the state or fact of being restored. 3. a return of something to a former. /span> original. /span> normal. /span> or unimpaired condition. 4. restitution of something taken away or lost. 5. something that is restored. /span> as by renovating.  I have taken the above from a well known dictionary. too often is the word " Restoration" used when it is apparent that was not the case.  A little about me. I have been restoring air cooled VW`s for over twenty years. I have done this as a hobby and not for business. during this time I have had several show quality cars with trophies. rosettes. plaques and magazine mentions. photos etc. I have also had some real rough ones as well. This car is by far the best I have ever owned and I only sell due to a change of circumstances. Now about the car.  The car has 12 months MOT. tax free. Insurance at an agreed value with a mileage of 1500 per year is £108. I have owned the car since its import 6 years ago. the MOT history will show that on 10/07/2010 the car had 25155 miles on its most recent MOT on 31/07/13 the mileage is 26144. the car has done less than 160 miles in the last MOT year.  The car was built on 25/03/64 vehicle identification 114 6 168 493. the country of destination was South Africa. I have the birth certificate from the Stiflung auto museum. he car was imported from South Africa. It was originally sent as a CKD (completely knocked down) production. i. e. it was built in Germany then dismantled and sent in crates to South Africa where it was assembled by South Africa motor assemblers. the car is unique in having two manufacturer plates. both located in the spare wheel well. As the car came from such a hot climate the condition of the body was excellent. the body has never been welded. not one repair panel has been used. there was no rust. the car retains all original heater channels. bottom door pillars. rear quarters. inner wings. bumper mounts. everything. the floor pan had both pans replaced due to bullet holes in the floor. possibly shotgun. I`ve no idea why.  I have a comprehensive photo history of the car and its restoration. I have thousands of pounds in bills and receipts for parts. apart from the paint I re-built the car myself. The car has won a number of trophies and is well known around the North West. last year at VWNW Tatton park it came first in two classes. this year a runner up.  The body was taken back to bare metal and resprayed L390 Gulf blue. an original period colour. the floor pan in 2K black. the floorpan was fully re-built using all new components or NOS or refurbished parts. the engine was re-built again with the same high quality. a TMI interior was scoured with new squabs and backrests. It has empi replicas. a period switchable 6/12 volt Blaupunkt radio. The car has not been spared any expense.  The car is basically standard other than the ride height which can easily be put back to normal. it retains all trim. it is a standard colour and I still have the original wheels. it retains all 6 volt electrics.  I have placed this brief description of my car to assist in answering any questions you may have. please serious enquiries only. the opening bid is £5000. I do not need to justify that bid the car is worth more. to find a shell that has had no repair work is very rare. the model of car is very rare. I appreciate this car is not for everyone as most people prefer a blank canvas to work with. this requires no work unless you wished to change items to your own personal taste.
