Vehicle Description:
For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1969 Oldsmobile 442 restored with the looks of a Hurst Olds.
The Hurst Olds was a package first introduce in 1969 with a Black and Silver paint scheme.
For 1969 they went with a White and Gold color scheme (Cameo white. with Firefrost Gold stripes).
One very noticeable feature were the mailbox hood scoops mounted towards the leading edge of the hood.
Research showed that the scoops mounted further back near the center of the hood were highly insufficient.
The air would hit the front of the car and shoot right over the mid mounted air inlets.
This new design was fully functional and added a lot of cold air right into the carburetor.
Cold air is dense air. more power! As you may have guessed the car is equipped with a heavy duty Hurst 4-speed shifter.
Built to take hard shifts and stay in the gas.
Granted only 2 1969 Hurst/Olds were equipped with 4-speeds.
Power comes from a 455 out of a '74 that was rebuilt in 2015.
The rebuild included Keith Black pistons. Eagle crankshaft and rods and a mild camshaft from Erson.
Power is sent through a Muncie 4-speed with a new clutch and pressure plate on back to a posi rear end housing 3. 24 gears.
The Olds is also fitted with the F-41 suspension with a front sway bar and boxed control arms.
The car has original and solid floors. a new fuel tank. correct Bullet mirrors. weather stripping and window fuzzies and a new radiator.
The car is a real 442 with the 344 VIN code.
