1979 Toyota Hilux Pickup Limited Edition 4WD for sale
Current customer rating:
I'm selling my rare Limited Edition (#267 of 1089) Toyota that I'm very fond of. since now I have a lot of commuting to do and need something more ordinary I can rack up the miles on every day and keep this truck looking young.
The Good:
-Before I purchased it ~500 miles ago it had all fluids changed and radiator cleaned and repainted and some brake work.
-It only has 70. 00 mi on the odometer and hasn't been wheeling or abused or cut up. Body is straight and solid. -4 cyl 20 R runs strong which shouldn't be a surprise. starts right up every time. 4 spd shifts better than most newer vehicles I've driven. it's a joy to drive and sounds great. Mechanically it's all sorted out and should be for a long time.
-Seats were redone at some point. interior is clean and solid.
-3. 5 in lift and 33 in tires with new wheels. have 800 mi on them and still look new.
-4 WD works as it should. H 2 H 4 and L 4 and locking hubs.
-Has cold A/C. all the temperature and vent settings work
-The rest of the electronics work also. had to replace some fuses and it's all good.
-All the gauges work (including the pod below the dash) except for the fuel gauge. but I may get it fixed soon but I've just been using the trip meter.
-It's currently registered in FL with clear title.
-It's a cool truck. Get lots of looks out on the road. it's a real classic.
The bad:
-Couple spots of surface rust. in the bed and by front windscreen. I can take pictures of that too but its not bad. Considering its age. and old Toyota trucks reputation to rust out. it's pretty much immaculate.
-Mentioned the fuel gauge that doesn't work.
-The paint is faded. I haven't waxed it since I actually like how it looks. and wouldn't change it unless going for a show truck.
-It's a Toyota pickup so it's a little oversprung. which is to be expected with these. Small price to pay for the fun.
-After replacing the fuses all the electrics (turn signals. A/C and fans. some others) all work consistently. with the exception of the horn. but that's probably an easy wiring fix I haven't looked at yet.
-Passenger door doesn't lock but that's another easy fix.
Overall this is one of the best unrestored examples of these Toyota pickups I've seen or heard of and it's a joy to own. My daily needs are suggesting me to get an ordinary car for going all around town so I'm giving the opportunity for someone else to enjoy this truck.
That's everything I can think of. I can send pictures or more information on request.
