The Series 62 was a series of cars produced by Cadillac. designed to replace the Series 65 in 1940. It remained in production through 1964. with an interruption in production from 1942 to 1947. The Series 62 featured a low sleek "torpedo" style C-body with chrome window reveals. more slant in the windshield. and a curved rear window. The new C-body that the 1940 Cadillac Series 62 shared with the Buick Roadmaster and Super. the Oldsmobile Series 90 and the Pontiac Torpedo featured shoulder and hip room that was over 5" wider. the elimination of running boards and exterior styling that was streamlined and 2-3" lower. When combined with a column mounted shift lever the cars offered true six passenger comfort. The grille became more massive in 1942. with even fewer bars. Parking lights became round and fog light sockets became rectangular and were included in the grille area. A bullet shape appeared on the tops of the bumper guards. A new fresh air ventilating system with air ducts leading from the grille replaced cowl ventilators

The 1942 Model Year began production in October of 1941 and ended 5 months later due to the involvement of the United States into World War II making the 1942 production year the rarest for Cadillac. Total production of the 1942 Series 62 Sedans was 1. 43 units.

This particular car was delivered in December 31. 1942 to Mr. Wilfred C. Kemstedt of St. Paul Minnesota. The original delivery paperwork and owners ticket are still in this automobile. It is not known how long Mr. Kemstedt had this car. It was eventually purchased by a well-known collector of original classic automobiles in Ontario Canada by the name of Mr. Jim Miller. Mr. Miller owned this Cadillac at two different times while the in between owner was Mr. Charles Cawley. founder of MBNA Bank which became Bank of America. Mr. John White of Sacramento California purchase this car from Mr. Miller approximately 10 years ago. The life of this wonderful automobile has been spent in very loving and sparring use care by significant collectors of highly original automobiles.

The interior and all mechanical aspects of the automobile are 100% original and the car drives amazingly! Everything on this car works as the day she was made. A true time capsule of amazing quality and duration.

The vast majority of the paint is also believed to be original with the front and rear bumpers having been re-chromed as well as a few spots on the body having had paint touchups.
This would be one of the worlds best preservation class car entries at any event in the world.
