MG TF (1953) for sale
Current customer rating:
For sale is my much loved 1953 MG TF.
Delivered to its first owner in Hobart in 1953. I have owned her since 2008.
I purchased her from Shannons in Sydney in a restored condition and have had to do very little to her mechanically since. She has been regularly serviced and any small issue identified then has been dealt with at the time.
Body: The exterior is painted bright red (not an original MG colour for the time but looks great). Chrome wire wheels inc the rear mounted spare. Lights and indicators working except that the fog lights have not been connected. No rust of which I am aware. She has a full set of side covers and a new soft-top in beige that offsets the red well. There are some small chips to the paintwork - about three chips. The wiper motor needs a little push to get it started.
Interior: New upholstery. New carpet. Instruments work except for the speedo (loose connection) and the amp gauge has no indicator needle.
Engine: The previous owner replaced the original motor with an 850 cc engine. Leaks a little oil as expected from all British cars but not that much.
Other: Suspension good. Tyres good. Never over-heated. even on country runs. Has a trickle charger fitted. No obvious shakes or rattles. Gearbox good and goes into the gears well.
Summary: The car is in fine condition. he engine runs well and starts first time even in the cold Canberra winters. I have tried to be complete as to the car's faults. otherwise. I believe all else is in good running order.
It has full NSW registration (I live in both Canberra and Braidwood NSW where the car is registered. however. apart from the occasional country run. I use her around Canberra).
I am most happy to supply further details and photographs and/ or arrange an appointment to see and test drive. Professional inspection welcome.
At the price. I believe it is a fair sale.
I always getting people coming to me to ask about the car or tell me stories of their experiences with MGs. so its a car for the show-off in you!
