Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to offer a very rare 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Epilogue Edition. By 1979. over 21. 00. 00 Beetles had been produced. To commemorate the end of such a long run. VW made 900 Epilogue Edition cabriolets which were to be the last ever Beetles to roll off the line. These special cars were given a "triple black" color combination meaning black exterior paint. interior color. and convertible top. Other special features were the burled wood dash appliqué. VDO clock. and the Bosch Fuel Injected 1. 85cc engine. This particular example has undergone an extensive ground up restoration at a reputable VW shop. This included shorting out the bodywork. a complete repaint. and rebuilding the drive train. The result is a super clean and beautifully running and driving special edition Volkswagen. The paint has a high gloss. the interior is beautiful. and the engine makes a sweet exhaust note. The car has the factory style "Shortwave" AM/FM radio as well and the special dashboard and clock. Though the color scheme is mostly black. the headliner is it's correct white. which provides some interesting contrast. This car would make a wonderful addition to any VW enthusiast's collection.
