1985 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL
As can be seen in the pictures. a stunning looking car. There is the odd chip/very small scratch on it. but as can be seen in the pictures nothing major to detract from the overall look of the car. The car drives very well with good oil pressure and uses no water/oil. These engines will do over 300. 00 miles before requiring any work. The interior is in middle red leather. and is worn though very usable. The wood is in very good condition and this car has the rear seats and seat-belts. which can be folded down to make an extra luggage area.
Soft top is black and in usable condition. though one of the side windows has had a repair and the windows are a little cloudy. Comes with hard-top. same colour and condition as the rest of the car. and stand with castors.
The car had restoration work carried out by the previous owner in 2010. when it was re-sprayed. though there are still some jobs to complete:
Windscreen has a small crack
Boot lid does not stay up
Doors don't lock
Carpets are serviceable. though replacements are reasonably priced
Slight leak on exhaust back box
Fuel pipes could do with replacement before it's next MOT in December
All easy DIY jobs with the exception of the screen which you may be able to get done on glass cover. V 5 present. and in my name.
Practical Classics magazine values these cars at £6000 for condition 2 and £11000 for condition 1. and this car is much better than condition 2.
