This auction is for a 1968 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider for restoration.

I bought the car two years ago with the intention of restoring it however I have now reached the conclusion that I simply have too much to do to give it the necessary time and money to bring is back to life.

The car is the rare boat tail 1750 model and was used by its previous owner everyday up until he decided to strip down for respray just 6 months before I bought it.

As with these cars. once the car was stripped. it became clear that a more comprehensive restoration was need.

I was told that the gearbox. engine and axle ran well prior to its dismantling and many of the parts supplied with the car are in pretty good order.

The body is the biggest issue here and it will require an experienced or committed DIY welder to bring it back to its former glory.

The car does not have a UK V 5 but as it was previously registered in Norway. however I have all of the Nordic documents so the car could be easily registered in the UK.

The car is a left hand drive and sits on a very nice set of period minilite wheels.

I am reliably informed that the car is complete apart from a windscreen.

Since owning the car I have spent a bit of money on various items including some re chroming and I had all the bumpers rebuilt.
I have struggled to price this car given that they don't appear to come up for sale in this condition often.

I have found three duetto's for sale recently and all were advertised for restoration and although in one piece were priced in excess of £20 K (I suspect that once these were taken apart they would probably end up looking no better than this one).

I have set the reserved considerably less than these cars because as I said. they were in one piece and I would like car to be taken on by a true Alfa enthusiast who will restore the car rather than break it for parts.

I am now Alfa expert but would be happy to answer any questions you might have if I can I am also happy to show anyone around the car if you would like to arrange a visit.
I would like the car to be collected within a week of the end of the auction.
