Morgan Plus 4 High Cowl 2 seater. Goodwood race history. for sale
Current customer rating:
An exquisite 1954 Morgan Plus 4 which has been fully restored in recent years.
This car was supplied to the first owner in December 1954 by London Morgan agent Bazil Roy Ltd.
In March 1955 he entered it in a Novices Handicap race at the BARC Members meeting at Goodwood and finished 4 th out of 19 starters. claiming the fastest lap at 69. 56 mph.
This Goodwood meeting was notable also because Stirling Moss's sister Pat entered her first ever race. and won it !
The Morgan we are offering for sale is one of fewer than 50 "high cowled" Plus 4 two seaters built with the twin spare wheel arrangement. having been preceded by the "interim cowled" model.
Over a period of several years beginning 1997 the car has had a total restoration. with new chassis. panelled ash frame. new leather. paintwork. Koni telescopic shock absorbers front and rear. stainless steel exhaust etc.
The engine is the correct Triumph TR 2 unit with twin SU carburettors. driving a Moss gearbox and Salisbury axle.
It has also received some worthwhile "modern" upgrades such as a high torque starter motor. alternator conversion. and an oil cooler. and has just undergone a thorough brake overhaul.
Finished in deep Brunswick green with dark grey leather upholstery. black weather equipment including hood and tonneau. it also has a Brooklands steering wheel. wooden dashboard. folding windscreen and aero screens.
Comprensive history file including Goodwood race programme. and Autosport race report and results.
A thoroughly charming Morgan to own. and a real joy to drive.
