welcome to my auction for this Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 2. please take the time to read right through the description so as to avoid unnecessary questions thank you. I bought the car as a non runner the previous owner had lost his mechanic to illness and had attempted to repair the car himself when it had cut out one day. the carburettors looked as if they had been dismantled and rebuilt with old gaskets. the car would fire but not catch when attempting to start. it seems as though so many attempts had been made that it has worn the starter motor and it doesnt always engage first time now. however I bought the car and rebuilt the carbs with a full kit from Flying spares. I found a punctured float and thought that to be the main problem as the car was clearly flooding. with new plugs the car stated but was clearly struggling for air and I found that the air filter was in poor condition when I removed it. the cause being sucking in exhaust from a manifold leak on the offside cylinder bank on cylinder 2. so the situation now is that the car starts. ticks over and can rev freely. the engine sounds nice with no rumbles or knocks. does not overheat and all the gears select fine. the brakes pull the car up well with no pulling to either side and the steering feels positive. the carbs do need setting up properly though as it is still not running fully as it should when warmed up. when the electric choke starts to open the motor seems to lean out too much. it may be something simple but I do not have the time or space indoors to sort the car out and these points are the main reason for the sale. everything seems to work as it should regarding the electric windows. eats. lights. orn and all the other controls. the rear seat has some stitching that has parted over the length of about nine inches on the bottom squab on the nearside (pictured) but should be an easy repair. the leather is in good condition and feels plush. the headlining is also in very good condition all the vanity lights etc work in the rear. the paintwork has crazed in some places and blistered at a couple of points on the roof. and the car will need a welding repair to the nearside sill a patch roughly three inches by six (pictured). although there is evidence of repairs to both sides outer sills but the car appears to be sound underneath the front nearside wing showing some corrosion to the outer lip(pictured). the inner wings and suspension tops are in good condition with no signs of rust. the car has had new plugs. plug leads points. condenser. istributor cap. nd the complete rear half of exhaust. recently. when driven it is quiet and drives smoothly changing gear as it should. I have removed the spirit of ecstasy hood ornament and it will go with the car for the new owner to re affix as I thought it may go missing from where the car is stored. the grill is in very good condition and the bumpers front and rear are good and straight the chrome is starting to show its age though with rust beside on of the front over riders. this car is a fantastic base to be a running restoration. and looks pretty good in its porcelain white and as such with little work could possibly earn its upkeep as a wedding car or just something to enjoy the phone number to call me on is 07951819887. if you need anymore info about the car or wish to view prior to making an offer. these cars are now gaining in value and are a sound investment and I expect a lot of interest. as soon as a deposit has been received for the car I will end the listing and the payments can be in cash or via a bank transfer or a cleared cheque. so thats it then I have been absolutely open about the car and hope you appreciate that it was built quite some time ago so some defects will have occurred but nothing that seems to serious and there nothing quite like opening the bonnet and seeing that Rolls Royce script cast into the valve covers of that V8 engine in my opinion
