Offered for sale is a beautiful 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia Deluxe Camper that is also a rare Champagne Edition; a two year only sales campaign by Volkswagen. This is the second and last year of the campaign making it a CEII. These are getting harder to find especially an unmolested one owner Deluxe Champagne edition.

A Deluxe Westfalia sports a sink. stove. exterior propane tank. refrigerator. control panel. ac electrical outlet. convertor. nbsp;in dash clock (works!). dash table. child's cot. front center stool. nbsp;rear table with additional leaf and rear bug screen. This is one of the most complete Deluxe Westfalia's available. Add to this the rare Champagne Edition offering a brown dash. steering wheel. two tone paint. chrome bumpers with decorative impact strip detail and you've got yourself one bitchin old school VW. You will get compliments everywhere you go.

I was very fortunate in being able to purchase this from the original owner. This bus is rust rot free. unmolested. an honest. solid true survivor.   No previous hack jobs. patch work. funky wiring or similar. The only item non original was a repaint to a White over Blue 12 years ago.

Upon my purchase. I disassembled the bus with only the main sink and stove cabinet remaining. The pop top. luggage rack. interior. all exterior trim. bumpers. running lights. glass etc. was removed. Also. for proper prep and paint. the front doors. slider. rear hatch and engine lid and the two side slider cover panels were also removed. That way the door jambs and all nooks and crannies can be given proper attention. The front doors were stripped to an empty shell. All latches. mechanisms. nuts and bolts were then cleaned in our eco friendly water based solvent tank. wire wheeled. and lubed to offer like new operation.

Countless hours of careful body preparation. and then inside and out. three coats of Polyurethane Primer applied. and block sanded to perfection.  Next. five coats of the factory correct Pastel White over Agate Brown Acrylic Enamel were applied inside and out. The two tone paint line is perfect; even inside the door jambs. The paint was then allowed to cure for six weeks. then color sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. Stunning is an understatement. The painter responsible for this work of art has received awards and trophies and also has  been featured in calendars. photo shoots and domestic and foreign car magazines. Who knows. perhaps you could too with this awesome retro camper.

The bus was then reassembled using ONLY German or American made weather-stripping and scrapers. The doors have 100 percent new weather-stripping including the vent wing windows. New slider. rear hatch. engine lid and Jalousie weather-stripping. Any fasteners replaced are of stainless steel. New Stainless Steel side mirrors just like the factory. Not cheap Chrome reproductions that will rust. New front door handles. New Hella brand headlight rings just like the factory. New antenna. wiper blades. grommets and squirters.

New front windshield glass and weather-stripping. New turn signal lenses. nbsp;side markers. tail light assembly and lenses. even the fuses and bulbs are new. Running lights. turn signals. wipers. even the factory horn works like new. Many hours spent assuring that all electrical connections. grounds and wires are functioning like factory new.

The ORIGINAL front and rear bumpers were sent out to be straightened to perfection and triple chromed. No aftermarket bumpers with cheap chrome that will rust right away. The original impact strips were reinstalled.

Brand new correct tires were mounted and balanced on refinished factory rims. Tires are the correct load range D 8 Ply; using anything else is unsafe. Less than ten miles on these new tires. Brand new hubcaps too.

Newer parts installed in the rear- shocks. rear backing plates. flex brake lines. wheel cylinders. brake shoes and brake drums. Brand new CV boots and bolts installed after cleaning and regreasing the CV joints.
Newer parts installed in the front-shocks. calipers. brake pads and alignment.

The factory original 2000 cc fuel injection engine has near perfect compression as follows-

#1-145. #2-140. #3-145. #4-140. New parts installed such as plugs. cap. rotor and timing and dwell checked by professional VW mechanic. Newer fuel pump and engine foam seal.  New house and engine batteries as well. Transmission shifts as it should. Steering tight and solid. A joy to drive and camp in.

The interior received new upholstery consisting of new foam on front seats. front center stool. middle bed. side arm rest and rear cushion along with new vinyl and correct plaid print. Custom throw pillows finish off the interior. The original uncut door panels and correct Brown carpet is in excellent shape and adds to the originality that you just cant duplicate. Spare tire resides where Westfalia Werks intended it to be inside the stove cabinet. No hideous aftermarket front tire mount to destroy the metal and looks of the front nose. Original front emblem shines like new. Just another example of the preservation this bus received under the original owners care and love.

New front floor mat. kick panels. top of pedestal mats and custom made side of pedestal carpet was installed as well.

New sink water pump installed. Control panel checked for proper voltage in both AC and DC modes. Refrigerator works as it should. Exterior propane tank has new shut off valve and new supply hose.

Fiberglass Pop Top and luggage rack refinished using a proven RV industry coating that repels mold and mildew. New canvas and trim installed. New stickers finish off the tops.

California buyer- vehicle will be smogged. Free and clear California title. I'm sure I've left out something. Shipping assistance available-just ask.

Please ask any and all questions before bidding. I check email often. This is not an offer to bid. win. then decide if you want bus. I encourage you to view in person or send a third party to inspect. I have many before. during and after photos to tell the story of the journey of this original owner bus. Vehicle has received extensive work. but remember is 35 years old and is sold as is with no warranties expressed. implied or imagined. It will require upkeep and maintenance.  Buyer to send immediate deposit of $500 with the balance due within 3 days of auction ending.  Remaining balance via bank to bank wire transfer only. Buyer to pay all fee's related to the wire transfer-my bank does not charge or subtract any fee's. Whatever your bank charges you pay that amount-it does not get deducted from the amount due to me. Thanks and happy bidding!
