Up for sale is a 1969 Dodge Charger "General Lee" variation. This is not a perfect car. it was driven. used & enjoyed. The odometer reads 101. 11 miles. drive train mileage unknown. Car sat in a garage for 16 years. the last 8 of those not driven. I do not know when it was made a General Lee or by who. but guessing late 80's early 90's. The car has a clean/clear Pa title in my name & was previously issued a new VIN number by Maryland state. New VIN attached to driver door jamb & radiator support was re-stamped as well. The original VIN on dash & fender tag have been removed due to the re-issued number. So. there is no VIN or fender tag to decode. Yes. rad support & trunk lip do retain last digits of original vin.    The Charger was originally White & had a vinyl top of unknown color. It has pwr 11" drum brakes & pwr steering w/ no A/C. It has factory dual exhaust mounting brackets (So. at very least was a 383 4brl car. ) It does have a 4 spd pedal assembly ( clutch pedal removed) & z bar mount on frame. but floor hump has been removed. It may not have been an original 4 spd  either. Car also has stripe delete R/T emblem holes on 1/4 panels. currently filled along w/ vinyl top trim holes. It is equipped w/ tic-toc gauge cluster. bucket seats . console & has hood mounted turn signals. Also had wheel well trim at one time as mounting holes remain on 1/4 & fender lips. Looks to have been painted twice since new. one time Drk. Met. Bronze & then orange when made a General Lee. The orange paint is fair/ o. k. looks good as a driver but far from perfect. It has a few scratches. wear.  chips. dull spots & possibly over spray. The paint it is old & most likely just enamel. Could be improved w/ careful cleaning. buffing/waxing. it will never be perfect. All General Lee letters. numbers & flag are painted on NOT DECALS !! They are well done. but for some reason 01 is a little off scale being slightly too wide & thin compared to show cars. The flag & lettering look right compared to others & the show. To compliment the "General" theme It does of course have a brush guard. cobra CB w/ trunk mount antenna. Dixie Horns. rear leaf spring shackles & the console shifter knob is not chrome 68/69 style but plastic simulated 70 style as used on show. The Charger has a set of new/nos correct vector/american racing 15' rims. Center caps still have plastic covering & excellent/mint condition. Plus. if it matters Vance & Coy signed console door back in 2007.
The Charger currently has a '69 727 trans. a '70 383 4 brl engine w/ the original Carter AVS & HP manifolds. The rear is an 8 3/4 w/ unknown single track gear ratio. the rear does have 10" brakes & the front is 11" as mentioned earlier. Engine. trans & rear are NOT original to the car.  The engine runs strong !! Does not smoke. nock or leak oil excessively (maybe an occasional drip over several months) & carries 40 psi of oil pressure after warmed up. The 383 has had lead additive used due to non hardened valve seats to prevent unnecessary wear & should be continued by new owner. 727 trans shifts fine no issues & has stock valve body & converter. Here is a list of everything new/replaced/rebuilt I've done over the summer (was planning on getting it back on the road. but plan changed )
* AVS carb cleaned & rebuilt (works great choke. fast idle. etc. )* Pro form electronic ign. conversion (distributer. ign. box. ballast res. wiring etc. ) as a side note engine compartment wiring is not hacked up. it still has the original fusible links.  * mopar constant output 13. 5 volt. reg. * Taylor street fire plug wires* Taylor 40. 00 volt coil* 60 amp alternator* NGK plugs* fuel/air filter* 3/8 aluminum fuel line from tank to pump* fuel pump "mechanical"* steel fuel line pump to carb* water pump* temp & oil pressure gauge sending units* oil & filter* trans filter/fluid & pan gasket & dip stick resealed* trans selector shaft seal & bands adjusted* battery* replaced radiator w/ good used 26" w/ shroud & external trans cooler (of course new anti freeze & 180 degree thermostat installed. anti freeze mix needs to be increased currently only at zero degrees) * complete summit dual exhaust kit. mandrel bent 2 1/2 " w/ summit/ flowmaster style mufflers ( needs installed) these are very nice aluminized kits w/ hardware & hangers that exit rear of car. Will need down pipes from HP manifolds made to match up to summit kit or install headers. I have new flanges & gaskets included to match hp manifolds as well. It's not running directly out the hp manifolds. left enough of down pipe to exit exhaust under car. *The gas tank & sending unit have been previously replaced & tank was undercoated.  * new set of front/rear blk. seat belts go w/ car not installed. * original am thumb wheel radio & bezel is included.
Again. drive train is basically stock. The engine runs fine. charging system works. cooling system functions & trans shifts properly w/ kick down linkage installed.
The car is currently not inspected & can not be legally road driven. It needs the exhaust installed & brakes gone threw. The brakes do work having good shoes. clean drums (10" rear 11" front)  & working wheel cylinders. Plus some of the springs have been replaced & I did flush the master cylinder. lines etc & installed fresh fluid. They need to be adjusted/ fine tuned as it does pull to the left/drivers side or you could install a disc set-up.
All lights on the car work. head. tail. turn signals. brake  & license plate. Interior gauge cluster lights work along w/ dome. console & shift indicator light & even map light. The vacuum operated headlights open/close !! The instrument panel gas. oil. temp & volt gauges work. Factory horns & Dixie horns all work too. The  tic-toc tac is no working currently.
The charger is very solid overall. The frame rails. torsion bar mounts. inner fenders. battery tray area. trunk extensions are very solid no rust holes. It has NEVER had the 1/4 panels replaced & near as I can tell the doors. fenders. trunk lid. hood etc. all have original white paint visible along w/ the dk. bronze & of course orange on top. The sail panels. around windows & tail light panel are solid. Trunk floor is intact. but does have rust in center & would need replaced to be perfect. it does have a few random holes. Floor pans look solid from underneath. never had carpet out. I'm sure there is some type of surface rust. Could use some work where "4 spd hump" was removed. It is not cosmetically 100% laser straight & does have dings & imperfections. Passenger side factory roof - 1/4 panel seam shows bubbling. Doors open & shut well (not falling off  the car. ) Windows roll up & down. The doors. trunk & hood lips are clean & not rusted out.
Interior is complete. but needs some TLC carpet not bad at all. but front/rear seats need done & headliner coming apart at rear seam. Door panels were replaced w/ black ones but they are not greatest either. Windshield has a chip in drivers side not cracked/spidered out but it's there. Looks to me like someone being ignorant w/ a bb gun. Never found out who !!
Also. believe this may have been a west coast car originally due to body condition & it actually had the dual fuel line return system for vapor emissions installed. I removed it when I ran the new 3/8 line. Overall. It is a solid worth while charger that could be a very enjoyable driver again  w/ bit more wrench time. Please feel free to ask questions & you're welcome to come look at the charger.
I have a short you tube video of car running after the carb was rebuilt & new plugs installed but nothing else done at that point except exhaust cut off. It runs & sounds even better now w/ everything listed done !!  Also. s a side note I am not power braking the car just a little heel to the steel to celebrate the ole General running again !! Oh & the hood was not completely latched in video that's why it's up in front. Since. I can't post a link to video. just go to you tube & type in " general lee short drive and burnout " it's 1:28 long & posted sideways so easy to find.
