I have for sale my much loved 1971 Opel 1900 GT. I have owned this car for over 20 years.

I am selling it as a "Restoration Project"  

This model is the rare and genuine European model "AL". Not a USA Californian import. This car is the 102 bph.  In 1971. due to emissions regulations. Opel reduced the compression ratio of the 1. 9 L engine exported to the US where output was only 83 bhp. Other differences which separate my car from the more common USA model are no rear wing reflectors an no ugly thick black over-riders fitted to the bumpers of USA models.

This is a nice. genuine original car with the only early adaptation of the much sought after Getrag 5 speed gearbox fitted.   The car has recently been brought out of storage and was last used on an everyday basis in 1995 but I no longer have anywhere to store the car and it is slowly deteriorating. It needs a loving home where somebody will have the time to restore the car to its former glory.

As stated above. this car needs work mainly to the bodywork where rust has come through on all the wheel arches and further inside the inner wings. and other rusted area's. A full inspection is recommended so you may evaluate the work required.    We have inspected the underside of the car where it mostly seems dry and sound. It has a stainless steel exhaust system.   Mechanically the car fine. it fires up and runs without an issue. The gearbox. again is fine and all gears can be smoothly selected without issue. Work will be required to the suspension. rubber bushes and shocks and breaks/discs will need attention as the car is pulling slightly to the left.

The interior is nice and original. no cracks to the plastic dashboard top. A slight seam rip on the drivers seat. Original seats. original door pads. original centre consul (not missing). AL model with the opening back windows.  The headlight rotation mechanism is in perfect working order.

The car has no current MOT and no Tax. The car is classed as an "Historic Vehicle" and therefore does not attract any car tax charges although a "zero" rated tax disc is required.  The V5C document in my name is present.

Only serious buyers need apply and only on the basis that this historic (tax class) vehicle will be restored. Car can be viewed in the Harlow. Essex area.
