Restored Original VW Volkswagen 1972 Super Vee Beetle Tax Exempt

RESTORED 1972 VW SUPER VEE BEETLE

Here we have a very nice restored to original specification VW Super Vee Beetle. Purchased in 1990 as a restoration project this Beetle has been lovingly restored back to its former glory since it was purchased to present day.

The owner is an out and out VW enthusiast and is also an electrical and mechanical engineer by profession. Having owned countless VW's over the last 30 years the owner originally sourced this Beetle as a little something different! The restoration project involved the following:

Body taken off  and repaired where necessary. All metal work was rust proofed with cure rust and primed with cure rust primer. Paint was then applied using the original factory colour. finished in Gold.

Bottom of heater channels were changed

Rear body mountings replaced

Original floor pans were kept but repaired were necessary

Chassis was prepped and wax oiled

All brakes have been changed for new components. with new ball joints on the front suspension.

The wheels have been stripped. shot blasted and powder coated.

Engine:

The engine was taken out fully tested and was found to be in perfect working order.

Engine was treated to new HT leads. a Bosh 009 distributor (original). period electronic ignition.

New LUK clutch

All tin ware around the engine was taken off and refurbished.

Interior:

The original seats have been recovered in 'factory' cloth including the door cards.

All the dealer special features are present including leather steering wheel. gear knob and tray compartments.

The original roof lining has been kept.

Exterior:

Finished in its original factory colour with the dealer special body flash sticker. specially made to factory original measurements and specifications.

Original Bumpers have been kept. headlight surrounds replaced and new spot lights fitted.

Original Dealer Special wheels have been retained.

The car has been family owned for the last 24 years as an on going restoration. The owners daughters have literally grown up with the car and watched its steady progress with great interest and have knick named it 'Goldie locks' (the 3 bears come supplied with the car!) The car has covered just 60K miles and the projects main aim was to re use and refurbish as much of the original car as physically possible. The car comes with the original owners hand book and factory key! Also the original service book is present with dealer stamps up until 1980 (24K). The original service data diagnostic punch card is present (used at service intervals) -VW being revolutionary back in its day providing a diagnostic point on the engine!

All in all a fabulous story of a piece of motoring history. restored in keeping with its original routes and where possible restoring the original components. nbsp;whilst retaining the original engine. keeping the bulk of the car factory original! 12 months MOT.  Low start bid with no reserve. In 1971 Formula Super Vee was introduced and in 1977 Volkswagen ended its support of the Formula Vee series to concentrate their efforts on Super Vee. Later Volkswagen's support of that series ended as well.
