This 1972 3. 0CSi is painted in the rare and sought-after original color of Golf. which is hardly ever seen on non-CSLs.   Knowing this. the owner about 7 years ago had the car modified to look like a CSL. also repainting it at that time.   The stainless fender flares. Scheel seats. and Petri steering wheel installed are original CSL parts.   The front spoiler. roof spoiler. nbsp;trunk lid spoiler. side stripes. rear spoiler sticker. roof antenna. and rear bumper are replica CSL parts.   Windsplits for the fenders were never installed. nor was a wing assembly on the trunk. but replicas are available for an extra cost from the seller if the buyer wants to add these parts as well.   The car is rare for a CSi in that it has a factory electric sunroof. A/C. and all 4 windows are powered.   Other modifications to the car include a complete stainless-steel exhaust system. an engine start button (in place of the hazard switch). an AM/FM/CD player & 4 speakers. a front strut brace. a battery kill switch (next to the shift console). battery relocation to the trunk. and a modern aluminum radiator.   The wheels on the car are original Alpina 16x7 front and 16x8 rear. off of an E24 Alpina.   The tires are new Yokohamas. size 205/50/16 front and 225/55/16 rear.

The car runs good. everything works. and it is a real head-turner. with the look of a CSL for much less than the current cost of one--and without the delicate aluminum body panels. plastic windows. flimsy hood and trunk lid props. etc. on CSLs that keep those cars from being regular drivers.   Also. as it is a CSi. you also won't have the maintenance issues of a CS with their carburetors. nbsp;the engine delivers 200 hp instead of the 180 hp of the CS. and the car will always be more valuable and collectible than a 2800 or 3. 0CS due to the total production of the CSi being 8. 59 compared to the CS with 20. 22.

Also note that the transmission in this car is a 5-speed overdrive. which shifts well and is quiet.   The engine was swapped 2 years ago to an engine from an early CSL (VIN 2211XXX). to go further with the CSL replica theme--the cylinder head being rebuilt and the bottom end found to be fine.   The original engine for the car is available too. if the buyer wants it. for the cost of shipping.   The car has its original D-Jetronic injection system.   The tires. which are Yokohama ECOS. are actually size 205/55/R16 front and 225/50/R16 rear.   The speedometer is still the original kph unit. and the odometer reads 51428 km--which actually translates to 94. 43 miles. assuming it has gone around once already.   The struts and shocks have been upgraded to Bilsteins.   Original CSL wheels in 14x7" are available instead of the 16" wheels shown on the car. if the buyer prefers those.   The current owner of the car has owned it for over 24 years.   He is not sure how many owners had it before him.   The car is very reliable. and has been driven and serviced regularly.
