Up for this auction sale is a nice and lavish 1973 Mercury Cougar XR7. including the famous V-8 351 cleveland Engine. It has had only one owner for this vehicle it's entire life. including also that it has remained here in itstrue southern California Climate. making it a very desireable car. Runs good and drives well. We put some new rubber on it. I mean a new set of steel belted white wall tires. The red paint is factory color. It has a new whiteconvertible top. It has not been restored. it is still in its original running and driveable condition and only has 57. 00 original miles. and still drives beautifully.  The trunk still has the original cover. including the convertible coverboot. along side the original spare tire. that has never been removed or touched the ground since in stalled at factory.  The exterior red paint still has the signature triple pin stripe along the side panels on each side of the car. nbsp;including the custom wire wheel hubcaps. It is a very striking vehicle. it shows that you can dress it up to go out on the town. and then dress it down. when you run to the beach. The perfect collector car for the owner to drive andhave fun!                                                                                                                                                

                     History                     
As you may remember 1973 Richard Nixon was president of the United States. and was already involved in the Watergate Case.  Oil consumption and prices began to change for the worse and were fast becoming bigger issues. The Alaskan Pipeline controversy was in the news. and the way cars were made would change forever. Gas  consumption played a big role in the slow dissapperance of the Muscle car. The Mercury cougar was considered one of the last Muscle cars. and along with the fact thatthey would stop making production convertibles in 1973. So. this vehicle is the last of an era and a big part of history. According to the vehicle identification number. this car was built in 1973. and it was built in Dearborn. Since thisvehicle was shipped directly to Southern California after construction. it has enjoyed mild weather conditions. therefore. there is no rust.
