My wife and I are offering for the first time our wonderful and exceptional 1973 Volkswagen Westfalia Hard top Camper Bus or “Tin Roof Westy” as they are commonly and affectionately referred to!  She is a Dry Climate survivor right here in sunny Southern California with zero rust!  Due to a business opportunity we have decided to make her available for sale.

Our California Westfalia camper has zero rust anywhere including floors. dog legs. rain gutters. nose. battery trays etc! We our the second owner of this 40 year old Westfalia Camper that turns heads everywhere we drive her. Just over a year ago she wore her completely original factory paint but her original finish was simply way too thin and was really showing her age so we decided to have her re-sprayed in the original L90D color code. Now she looks stunning or as she did when she was new. To say her body is straight is an understatement! The only body flaws were limited to a few very minor door dings that were repaired and then the body was blocked. prepped and painted in her original White color scheme.   The paint has an absolute mirror finish with loads of luster.   We also replaced the front windshield with a new one along with a new gasket. We installed other new window gaskets while the glass was out but all other glass is original in good condition. The result was an exceptional  body with stunning paint that has a beautiful finish!  Our Tin Roof Westy has been seldom used by us and we have reserved her for special trips and Parades here on Coronado Island.   I was recently asked if I would put her in the upcoming parade on July 4th. Most of the time she sits in our garage however when we do take her out she receives thumbs up and turns heads everywhere by both young and old alike!

Our head turning Volkswagen Westfalia Tin roof drives like a champ! She now has 79. 10 miles and we believe they could be correct based on the overall condition when we first acquired her. Last year we pulled her original 1800 cc engine and had her completely rebuilt from top to bottom and all numbers are still matching.  We also installed a new Sachs Clutch. The engine also has new belt. all new fuel and air lines. In October 2012 we installed new front brake pads. new front brake hose kit. New front brake rotors. Replace all front to rear brake lines. installed new rear brake shoes. new rear wheel cylinder kit.  new Zimmerman rear drums. We also installed a new ignition switch and a new battery.  We installed New correct Dual Weber 34 CIT Carburetors along with a New Centrifugal Ignition. New throttle cable. Replaced the steering dampener and more. To say she purrs like a kitten is being conservative.   Her performance is outstanding.   All receipts will be provided to the buyer for all the work performed.  She is equipped with four near new matching 185/R14 radial tires.  Simply put our Westy is ready for just about anything and she has less than 400 miles on all the above work.

Our California Westy camper has been garaged most of her life and it shows! The interior of our head turning camper is exceptional for 40 years old. The original Westfalia Gold cloth material and padding on the Z bed and Jump seat are in very good condition with zero tears or sags and very little ware. There are some minor spots but a shampoo will correct right up. The Westfalia wood interior side panels are in good condition but have typical fade. The two front interior door panels are a few years old and in excellent condition.   The front seats are near new in excellent condition.   The front rubber mat is in excellent condition.   The Cabinets including sink. Ice box. pop up table and closet are all in very good condition. All new custom made Curtains have been installed within the last year with material from Tommy Bahama for the classic So Cal surf look.   The original wood veneer ceiling is in stunning condition.   Rear camping interior light works correctly.  All instruments work correctly including speedo. odometer. gas gauge & warning lights. Instrument light bulbs were just replaced. She has never been smoked in and there are no signs of any tobacco products ever being used in her. simply zero funky odors! She is also equipped with her original rear bug screen and child's cot that are superb.   She has seat belts for five and all belts are fully functional. The interior is in amazing condition considering her age.

She runs. shifts and drives as she should.  The performance is fantastic and she really shines on uphill grades were she never lacks power and has tons of torque. Our Westy drives down the road at 75 mph without effort and keeps up with traffic effortlessly. She drives down the road in a straight line at any speed and when it's time to stop she does it on a dime. She can be driven anywhere with confidence.

As I mentioned before a recent opportunity has presented itself and that is the only reason we are selling our beloved Westy.   We own two other VW's and love them. The new owner will get a truly exceptional turn-key. drivers quality. partially restored 1973 Hard Top or “Tin Roof” edition Volkswagen Westfalia that turn heads everywhere you go. She is not a trailer queen but she is an exceptional and superb Type II. Our VW truly demonstrates "Pride of Ownership”!  It is our goal that she finds the same kind of love she received for her first forty years in a whole new home with VW like minded people!
