1966 Shelby

On offer here is a 1966 GT 350 which is surely one of the finest Shelbys. of any year. currently on the open market.

The car seen here is SFM 6 S 1536 and was delivered on June 14. 1966 to Ray Hunt Ford in Daytona Beach. Florida as a factory red. 4 speed car with painted Magnum wheels and no Le Mans stripes from the factory. It was purchased by its original owner. a Navy man. on August 18 th of 1966.

That first owner retained the car for almost 40 years before parting ways with it in 2004 after taking spectacular care to preserve the car during his ownership.

To date. this GT 350 has had only 4 owners and exists today as a finely preserved. unrestored Shelby Mustang.

Paint Factory Red GT 350 with no Le Mans Stripes from the factory.

Exterior and underside paint is all original to the car with only minor misc. stone chips being sympathetically touched up by the original owner during the 1960 s. Drivetrain All original to the car. Numbers matching and original engine block with Ford VIN clearly stamped. Original transmission and rear end with original axle tag still in place. Interior All original and in excellent condition. Highlights include original Ray Brown seat belts. tachometer which has never been off the dash. headliner. dash. upholstery. and carpet. Untouched and immaculately preserved under dash area including heater components and San Jose firewall pad. Hurst shifter added by the original owner in 1969 at the same time as the Koni shocks. Body The body and trim of this car are so highly preserved that most people. when told. do not believe it is a Florida car. The car looks more similar to a low mileage California car which is a testament to the high degree of care given by its original owner from 1966 to 2004. Completely rust free. original body panel car. Easily the straightest car I have had the pleasure of owning. Original Shelby fiberglass parts. Original glass. Original chrome and trim preserved in excellent condition. Vehicle tie down plate instruction sticker still remains glued on the body beneath the rear bumper. Underside Incredibly preserved underside- original red oxide paint with appropriate factory over sprays. Easily one of the nicest preserved undersides I have seen. Original driveshaft with paint ID stripes and painted part numbers still visible. Original leaf springs with paint ID stripes and original clamps still in place and never removed. Original DSO markings still visible on the rear end housing. 1969 dated Koni shocks added by the original owner in 1969 at the same time as the addition of the Hurst shifter. Trunk Original trunk mat. Original Goodyear Blue Streak tire mounted over the original jack and lug nut wrench. Original spare hold down instructions still glued to the underside of the trunk lid along with a Ford accessory trunk light. Documentation/Verifications Most importantly. the Ford VIN number has been confirmed as matching the Shelby serial number on the vehicle by SAAC Registrar Howard Pardee. Ownership history is documented in the SAAC Registry. Original Shelby serial number plate. All Ford VIN numbers are present on the body of the car exactly where they should be. Has been shown at a number of national events including the Mid America Nationals in Tulsa. OK and the Mustang 50 th Anniversary Celebration in Charlotte. A well known car which is known to many of the most knowledgeable individuals in the hobby. More photographs are available on request.
