1988 Mercedes-Benz W124 300E - Only 58k Miles From New

An early W124 with an interesting history. This Arctic White 300E was purchased new from Mercedes-Benz dealers. Normand (Mayfair) Ltd. From their Park Lane showroom by Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Norain. the Sultan of Brunei's sister. She kept the car for 11 years at which point it had barely covered 10k miles. The car then passed to a Mr J J Fontivero (who we believe was a chauffeur). who registered the car as B7 JJF and kept the car for 13 years. taking the mileage to just 33. 00 miles. Reverting to its original number plate in 2012. the third and final owner took the car up to its current mileage of just 58. 60 miles.
This is a highly original example in exceptional condition. The body is all original paintwork and virtually unmarked. As you can see from the photographs the jacking points and wings are original and free of any corrosion.
The interior is quite remarkable with no wear to the leather trim whatsoever. original over-mats and unmarked Zebrano trim. A more modern stereo is the only deviation from standard.
The Normand Park Lane dealer sticker remains in the rear window. along with the original tax disc holder in the history file.
All original books and manuals are present. along with an HPI certificate. MoT history and part service history – all service records from first and third owners. The last owner had the engine rebuilt for which we have the receipt.
We have thoroughly gone through the car. changing all fluids and filters including the transmission. replaced suspension bushes and joints where required and replaced the brake discs and pads all round.
There are a few jobs left to do for which we are struggling to find the time (and space!). making it a perfect opportunity for an enthusiast. The air conditioning needs converting to R134 and regassing. there's a very slight weep from the transmission and there's a chip to the screen.
All very worthwhile as you never see a W124 with original bodywork this clean!
The W124 series is fast gaining collector appeal as they are recognised as one of Mercedes' greats. Early W124 saloons are very appealing for their build quality. simplicity and purity of design. and the 300E offers potent performance from its smooth 188bhp engine. UK-supplied cars have also become extremely hard to find in this untouched condition with low miles.
