Olly the 1976 late bay

I bought this camper in 2006 and have had it ever since. When I bought it . t didn't look much different to what it does today. it was a good solid camper one of the best I have owned. it had an recon engine in 1995 and hadn't done many miles since it was fitted it pulled like a train. we had a couple of outings in it then as the winter set in I decided to get it up to scratch as you can see in the photos I stripped everything off it and found some holes in the window surrounds and lower wind screen . I scoured the country for some bulk heads as it was previously a Dutch ambulance and was built without any .

I spent long nights after work and loads of weekends getting it ready for the following summer. all the window surrounds were welded to a great standard by a friend who was a top welder. the lower half of the van was solid and didn't need any welding as were all the doors . the sliding door was excellent. the chassis was solid and pretty much rust free. the roof gutters were solid . I had the van repainted  in its original colour using 2 pack paint . I myself repainted the floor and interior which again was solid. after the repaint I bought replacement windows and all new German quality window rubbers and fitted them and continued putting the van back together it took me 18 months to get to the standard it was in back in 2008 . we used the van for a couple of years going up to the lake district and down to lands end and many places in-between and the van never let me down (a few minor hiccups to be honest but all fixed at the roadside)

Anyway after parking it up under cover in 2011 we decided to holiday abroad more and stopped using the van. in late 2012 I decided to give it some more love and attention to keep it on the road. /p>

I gave it a good inspection and found that there were a few bits that needed some proper attention

The passenger side outer sill and lower b post had started to gain a few small holes and there were a few bubbles on the lower sliding door and rear valance once again I obtained some panels from Schofields and got the sill replaced along with a section of the b post. whilst under the van I discovered some rot on the front beam so I sourced a good solid replacement beam and replaced it

The engine was smoking a little and there was a couple of oil leaks. so I whipped it out and replaced it. The engine it now has is 4 year old engine that has covered 25000 miles with new carb distributor. alternator and full flow oil system which is a big bonus to these engines as it helps with keeping the engine cool. I also replaced the flexible heater tubes. /p>

Now with all the new work to the sills it needed a repaint so I sent back to dragon arts Birmingham where they resprayed the van from below the windows all the way round

The van now is in the best condition I have ever had it. but I have now moved on to my T5 so it is ready to go to a new caring home . it will be a sad day for me as I still love it and don't want to leave it standing . t needs to be enjoyed . whoever ends up with this van will not be buying anything other than one of the most solid buses around  .  the rock'n'roll bed is great and the two bunks in the pop top are a big plus.

The van has servo assisted brakes opening quarter lites in the front doors both pretty rare options.

The van is now 37 years old and has a long future ahead of it. there are a couple of little jobs to do. the heater cables need replacing as I have always had the heaters left open. and a piece of plastic cowl on the steering column needs replacing  but that's it to the best of my knowledge. and these have only been left as when I made my list of what to do I missed them

So have a good look if you are interested come view it and get underneath it get in it. look it all over . if you find anything I haven't mentioned please tell me because I don't think you will . This van is one of the most solid late bays around with no rust issues and fresh paint . t's a get in and drive away bus that turns heads so if you're serious about owning one of these think twice before you bid on some of the rust buckets on eBay . but I urge anyone who is interested to come and have a look first . I personally would not buy one of these without seeing what I am getting for my money

I have a load more photos on flickr of work done and stuff . here is the link to view them   (copy and paste it in your browser or highlight it and right click on it and open link)

If you are seriously interested in this van then you will know what its worth so offers should reflect this ( I will not reply to daft offers) The van is located in the B36 area of Birmingham for viewing

This will be cash on collection sale only; the van will not be released until the money is in my hand

Bidders feedback of 10 or lower please email me before bidding . I won't ship the van overseas and I insist on cash only in my hand. Please don't bid unless you can pay for the van . if you win you pay the winning bid price

Happy bidding Rich
