Fiat 850 Sport Spyder 1972 for sale
Current customer rating:
For sale is my 1972 Fiat 850 sport Spider which was imported by me from California.
It has been professionally converted to RHD and has a compliance plate fitted.
The body was stripped and blasted and repaired. A minimal amount of rust was repaired and floors were found to be solid. The following has been done.
Motor.
Rebuilt by Hillman motors in Rockhampton. New pistons rebored. new water. fuel and oil pumps. Brand new Weber carb. new Marelli distributor and coil and new sports exhaust system. Mild cam fitted so idle slightly lumpy. New clutch.
All ancillary parts on the engine have renewed.
Gearbox. All new boots and drive shafts checked. New throw out bearing though slightly noisy on occasion.
All synchros function properly.
Slight hiss from final drive.
Brakes. Complete overhaul new master and wheel cylinders professional rebuild of front callipers.
Electrical .
Complete rewire with upgrade to 4 mm.
All connections soldered. Major instruments cleaned internally professionally.
All electrical systems function perfectly.
Windscreen washer upgrade to electrical. New battery a couple of years ago
Cables. Every control cable has been renewed
Body.
Painted in acrylic lacquer in GM red. 8/10. A new soft top has been fitted.
All glass is good and a brand new windscreen is fitted. Door window regulators changed.
Chrome. Complete re chrome done. Brand new mirrors.
Upholstery.
Completely refurbished in Porsche browns. The dash was completely redone.
Tyres. All new 165/65/13 including the spare. Cromodore rims fitted.
Cooling system.
Because these little cars suffer from overheating an auxiliary radiator has been installed under the front of the car.
The original radiator has been recored with high flow modern components. This 850 DOES NOT overheat.
All hoses have been changed.
Fuel system.
Fuel tank removed and steam cleaned then sealed.
New fuel pump with( very hard to find) Weber 30 dic carb.
Rubber.
All replaced with original parts as far as possible.
Suspension and running gear.
All steering components renewed new shocks front and back. steering box rebuilt and rear springs reset to level the car.
Car has slight noise coming from rear suspension.
Accessories .
A used fibreglass hardtop is included.
It is an aftermarket item in need of TLC though it is very usable. The rubber strips need to be replaced and a good clean. A new old stock period Fiat Roosevelt radio is fitted. Almost impossible to find.
Left to do is. Colour sand body for a perfect finish. occasionally noisy throw out bearing even though its brand new so I'm including a new spare. Though alternator shows normal charging battery warning light on the dash illuminates intermittently.
Electrician says change the relay but I will include a good used alternator.
Some minor fixings to be finished off inside the car.
The car has run less than 300 miles since rebuild and has sat a few months due moving and my health problems.
It runs very well starts easily. Though it is capable of higher speeds its happy around 100 to 110 kph and gets about 45 mpg (5. 5 l/100 kms) average driving.
It's a real head turner with the top down and snug with the top up.
Inspection is recommended and it must be remembered that this car is 40 years old.
It's taken me years to complete the project with little expense spared and an investment of at least 25 K.
I want it to go to a good home.
Jack tools and manual included. Please call or
I'm not a mechanic but been working with Fiat 850 project since 1975. Of course no warranty is implied and the car is sold as is where is. Must be picked up by July 11 th as I'm moving house but I might be able to deliver the car to a transport depot in Bundaberg if it helps.
The car is on club rego that is not transferable.
A right rear bumper section is included to replace the dented one.
It has been re chromed ready for fitting.
Shipping is buyers responsibility. I can help arrange if needed.
