Classic Mini SNY 578Y. 1983. Priced to sell

 I purchased this Mini on 31st December 2010. the bare shell was transported on a flatbed trailer along with all the removed parts in boxes. the shell was totally bare. no glass. wiring loom. interior. subframe etc it was either loose or in boxes.  

Being winter the warmth of the garage was the place to start. strip the engine. head off. valves removed checked. everything cleaned and reassembled. Gearbox casing removed. all gears. cam. crank and bearings and shells checked and again reassembled with new seals and gaskets. block. head etc all cleaned and painted with high temperature paint.  

With the exception of the roof seam all other seams removed. new wings front panel. A panels. door skins. rear valance are new. bonnet and boot are fibreglass. the only filler used is for cosmetic purposes. no rot or rust.  

Fibreglass arches fitted and expanding foam filled then fibre glassed and blended into the metal on the inside to create a rigid watertight structure. the underside was then lightly sprayed with flexible and over paintable stone guard and the whole shell primed.

 October 2011 the shell was transported to the G. Burns Body Shop for a full inside. outside and underneath spray in base coat and 2K lacquer. Gary makes a fantastic job. he's a classic enthusiast too. he returned it the same month.

 New poly bushes all round. all bearings. ball joints. track rod ends. seals. cables etc. are new. too many new parts to list.

 Metro 1300 A+ engine and HIF44 (1 3/4” turbo carb) fitted

 Metro four pot callipers with grooved and vented discs

 All brakes. lines & stainless braided hoses are new

 Spax krypton filled lowered adjustable coil overs all round (No more rubber cones!)

 Powder coated and lacquered 13" wheels. 6J front & 7J rears with mirror polished rims & new Yokohama tyres

 New beam rear axle. not a subframe (powder coated) which is fully camber and castor adjustable.

 Manifolw big bore exhaust.

 New radiator.

 Running gear. front subframe etc powder coated or painted.

 Adjustable bottom arms.

 New steering rack.

 New chrome bumpers. handles. and boot lock.

 All glass seals are new.

 New seats. carpets and door cards. doors and boot seals. the interior is sparse. it's to my taste and appreciate it's not to everyone's liking but can easily be change to suit. The bucket seats are on adjustable runners not just bolted in like some. it doesn't have a rear seat but the area instead covered with 4 way stretch automotive carpet. if you want a rear seat in just bolt one in. not a problem. The five point harnesses utilise the original front and rear seat belt fixing positions so nothing that can't be put back to standard interior wise if that's your thing.

 It is difficult and hard to explain the attention to detail and extent that I've gone too to build this car. it's been a labour of love that I build all my vehicles purely for the enjoyment. the satisfaction of standing back and saying I built that.

 For me it's not the driving of these vehicles just the enjoyment and challenge of the build so after pottering about & showing it (in the dry) for the last 12 months. It is now time to move onto the next project.

 The MOT is due early October but I'll obviously put 12 months on it.
