You have a very unique and rare opportunity to purchase a very sought after and collectable BMW 633 CSi ‘Hallmark' Edition previous owned by the motor racing legend Derek Bell. Presented in metallic Fjord blue with contrasting blue velour interior and with genuine mileage of only 118. 00 miles. this car is being offered for sale as a ‘running and rolling' restoration.   It is with great regret that we are selling the car. as it was originally purchased with every intention of making the vehicle a full 100 point concourse show winner as it is such a rare and important piece of automotive history. however with our current every increasing workload. it is unlikely that we can make valuable workshop space and resources available to carry out the restoration and recommissioning that the car really deserves.

Registered in the UK on 6 February 1978 on a ‘S' plate. it was prepared and presented to Derek Bell by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) in April of 1979. believed to be the only manual gearbox version prepared by TWR to their Hallmark specification. a conversion approved by BMW in England and Germany. but only available in this country in a very limited run of only 26 cars! This particular car is a ‘one off special' built for the famous racing driver. The engine on Derek's car has been factory ‘blueprinted' and the handling much improved with the fitting of high performance dampers. progressive rate springs and very special Alpina wheels and tyres: 7” on the front and 8” on the rear. Other Hallmark features include. Alpina front spoiler. uprated brakes front and rear. limited slip differential. twin coachlines with the letter ‘H' on the rear wings and front spoiler. solid silver ashtray. and the ‘H' motif on each headrest except in the velour specification cars. Derek's is believed to be the only non-leather version (apparently racing drivers don't like leather interiors). and a Momo three spoke leather steering wheel.

All the original body mouldings and spoilers are in place and all are in excellent condition. The car has the extremely rare original factory 7” x 16” and 8” x 16” 20-spoke Alpina staggered alloy wheels. which are in good undamaged condition with quality Goodyear NCT 205/55/16 on the front and 225/50/16 on the rear.

As far as I know the car has been free from any accident damage repairs (the car is totally clear on the HPI register). The mileage of 118. 00 is correct and confirmed via the National Mileage Register. and comes with a small file of ownership documents. previous MoT's. invoices and various communications with its famous previous owner. He is fully aware that we currently own his old car and has expressed a keen interest to see the car restored as it was one of his most treasured cars.

The underneath of the car is in remarkably good condition. all the main chassis rails and floorpans are in excellent shape with original factory finish on them. Front jacking points are starting to corrode. but are in good order. inner and outer sills are fine. as is the rear end structures. There have been signs of previous repair to the front inner wings but the main front outer wings are in excellent structural condition. only starting to show signs of paint bubbling on the wing top. The exterior paintwork is bright and shiny. but paint blisters and scabs are evident around the rear wheel arches. rear screen scuttle and other panels. These areas aren't severely corroded and the panels are all structurally sound. The worst area is the bottom of the driver's door which is corroded.

The interior has been extremely well looked after and is in superb condition throughout. there is no damaged to any of the velour seats. perfect headlining. dashboard and plastics are not cracked or sun damaged. The vehicle has all the usual model features of its era plus the special Hallmark edition extras.

The car benefits from the having a specially engineered and blueprinted 3210cc engine with Bosch L-Jectronic fuel injection system. developing a healthy 230bhp. coupled to a close ratio manual gearbox with limited slip differential. The engine starts and runs without any drama. there are no nasty knocks. rattles. oil or water leaks. there is a slight blow from the exhaust manifold. the cars gearbox. clutch and brakes all work as they should.

I have the full V5 registration document. This car is totally original and standard with a genuine mileage. This is an extremely rare and historic vehicle which does require restoration and recommissioning but is equally very sought after and especially with its famous racing driver provenance will command an extremely high price in the current marketplace and represents exceptional value for money whilst becoming extremely rewarding investment opportunity. The BMW 633 CSi Hallmark with its BMW - TWR and Alpina allianceis one of the rarest and most collectable E-24's ever.

On the whole this is a fantastic prospect to own a piece of motoring history.
