The Italian styling house and coach builder Zagato for many years stunned the world with its variants of popular marques such as Maserati and Alfa Romeo. In 1990 Zagato developed a radical new car for Alfa that would be made in limited numbers and would take the fabulous Alfa Romeo underpinnings and cloth them in no compromise Zagato fashion. The resulting SZ featured the ubiquitous Alfa three litre V6 and five speed transaxle. The resulting weight distribution meant fabulous handling and. with over 200bhp propelling the lightweight composite body. a top speed of over 140mph. The body's radical shape was controversial from the start. the resulting furore only serving to further increase demand for this 600 or so run. Prices for the car at the time peaked at over £200. 00. The airy cabin featured Zagato's trademark double bubble roof and the square headlights and split rim Speedlines were right up to date. The example we offer is no. 511 of the limited run. it is in good condition throughout. Purchased by the previous owner in 2005. the car has had only 2 prior owners. It is supplied with a V5 document. MoT certificate valid until February 2014 as well as the owner's manuals in the accompanying leather wallet and leather booklet. With only 55. 69 miles or 89. 30 kilometres recorded. the performance. and not to say its looks. earned the SZ the nick-name of “il Monstro”. “The Monster”! As a definite future icon this must surely be the time to invest in this design classic. they are only going up in value!
