1970 Land Rover Defender - Series 2A Convertible DIESEL for sale

Don't miss a rare Land Rover 88" Series 2A Convertible Diesel in excellent condition!Kept indoors. in original condition unused for decades- and recently rebuilt to outstanding condition. Manufactured  by Rover Co. LTD in February 1970 at the Solihull Factory. England and shipped to be assembled in Cota Rica where it was recently rediscovered. Being the rare and thought after diesel version it was brought to the U. S.
Although the body was absolutely straight and the car didn't have any rust or major mechanical issues. It was restored using all the original components:The aluminium body had gone through a fantastic professional off frame restoration without compromising any of it's originality- As you can see in the photos. all factory double sided wields and old fashioned rivets show exactly as they should.  
Original (matching numbers) engine was rebuilt. so were the gear box and Diesel pump. It starts right away. ready to go on any fun adventure (it can clime on practically anything) or star in any car show.  The top is brand new and seals great. It's relies on a period correct conversion frame that adds an extra inch of head room to the driver and front passengers. Side mirrors were upgraded to the '71 model and a new alternator replaced the original dynamo for for better practicality.
Most of the car's original detailing were kept for that priceless age authenticity. All door handles. diesel fuel cap. knobs and gauges are authentic and original.  If a newer look is desired. those parts are easily available new at online shops.
This Diesel Land Rover comes as the stripped down military version. Apart from the cool military look and the reduced weigh. it exposes the near perfect aluminium body in it's full glory.  easily convertible to any other version.
It has been driven a few hundred trouble free and fun miles since the restoration - Creating the lovely characteristic old diesel sound getting a lot of thumbs up and smiles.
