1963 Sunbeam Alpine Series III GT

SAL253215

93701 Miles

Very limited production car with lots of Style and Performance

Full restoration and Mechanically updated.

This 1963 Sunbeam Alpine Series III GT was given a full restoration in 2009 and has 94k miles. This example has been modified with the 1725cc engine and fully synchronized 4-speed manual gearbox from a Series V Alpine. The car is cosmetically stock apart from American Racing Libre 4-spoke wheels. and benefits from fully rebuilt gauges. The GT model deleted the convertible top in favor of a removable hardtop and a small rear bench seat. making the car a 2+2.

This car no longer has its hardtop. and weather protection is provided by a tonneau cover.  I have found several hardtops on eBay for sale if you feel you need one.

This Alpine has been in the Northwest for at least 20 years and has won its class twice at the Portland All British Field Meet. It is sold with a clean Oregon title.

The car was repainted in its original Wedgwood Blue during the restoration. The selling dealer notes that the paintwork is of high quality and no masking or other marks are evident.

The Libre wheels are a nice period-correct addition and appear slightly wider than the stock wire or steel wheels.   All of the original brightwork has reportedly been retained. The bumpers show some pitting. but the rest of the chrome is intact.   The Series III featured a unique hood badge with a chrome surround and plastic center not used on other Alpines.

The factory hardtop has not been retained on this example. Some weather protection is afforded by a split tonneau cover. which appears nicely fitted.   The Series III GT introduced a wood dash to the Alpine range. All the rebuilt gauges are said to remain functional.

The 1725cc inline-four and fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox were sourced from a Series V Alpine. Apart from a conversion to a single carburetor. the Series V engine remains unmodified. The later model used an alternator rather than a generator.

The underside appears straight and free of any serious corrosion. though it was not repainted or re-undercoated during the restoration. The only apparent overspray is visible on the underside just aft of the engine bay and at the back end of the trunk floor.

This Alpine claimed best in class at Portland's All British Field Meet in 2014 and 2015. The seller describes this as a capable show or vintage rally car. with all mechanical and interior features working as they should.  We have provided an extensive gallery showing the car in both natural and studio lighting.

We specialize in European classics. and ship cars all over the world.   Happy to answer any questions about the Sunbeam.

Good Luck
