FACTS: There were no V code convertibles produced in 1971. nor was the R/T package available on the convertible. So there is no such thing as a "real one" There were 99 V codes built in 1970. (38 automatics. 61 4-speeds). if you can find one. they sell for $200. 00 or more.

This car was built as a "could have been". but with upgrades. You can build one yourself if you wish.

1971 Challenger convertible: 440 six pack date code 11/66 block. Tremec 5-speed transmission. 4 wheel disc brakes. front and rear sway bars. handles like a go-kart. 3 speaker dash. Cragar SS wheels I've owned this car for almost 13 years. It was a very nice driver for 9 years. then in 2012. I decided to have it repainted. The car was disassembled down to the body/chassis. (You can't do a frame off on a unit body) and was completely redone. No corner cutting. even a new wiring harness. The rally dash I do not think was original to the car. so mileage does not mean anything. Drive anywhere. get 15 mpg on the open road.
