TRIUMPH SPITFIRE MKIV

This Triumph Spitfire was the subject of a full body off professionally restoration in 2003/4 and is a testament to the quality of the restorer that some 12 years on the car is presented in such fine condition today. The following aspects of restoration were undertaken. mostly with complete originality in mind while a number of sensible concessions were included to provide a more modern and safe motoring experience. i. e. better brakes. head-rests and suspension; Body off restoration. many panels including. bonnet. boot. floors. rear wings etc. replaced. chassis found to be in excellent condition so just blasted. primed and repainted. Engine replaced with a fully rebuilt and detailed stage two 1300cc engine fitted along with uprated brakes. Runs on unleaded petrol (cylinder head converted at the time). K & N performance filters. Overdrive was fitted from new and may be selected from 3rd and 4th. gearbox is a replacement item.
The car has a stainless sports exhaust. coupled to the tuned engine. sounds great. Adjustable shock absorbers. front and rear. As part of the rebuild. stainless steel nuts & bolts were used where possible; brake and fuel pipes were upgraded to copper and rubber bushes changed to longer lasting poly-bushes.
Receipts for the restoration work undertaken and the parts purchased have been retained along with the original service booklet and MOTS etc from day one. Also included are a number of original Triumph booklets. Recently the car has been treated to a visit to a specialist tuning company who setup the carburation and ignition. Power from the engine was noted to be 80 HP on the rolling road. There really aren't many Spitfires available on the market today that have been subjected to such a detailed and full restoration.
Careful inspection of this car will demonstrate the attention to detail that was lavished on the restoration.
