Subaru Justy Mk 1 - spares or repair Collect Glos. for sale
Current customer rating:
Classic Subaru Justy Mark 1 - 1. 2 litre 3 cylinder engine (same as the Sumo) Multi-point fuel injection. Electronic ignition. A great fun car that has taken us all over Europe. Push-button 4 wheel drive - goes anywhere in snow and mud. Collect from Stroud. Gloucestershire.
Tyres nearly new. Battery good. Front Drive shafts new. New steering ball joint. Brakes recently overhauled. Clutch only a few months old. Chassis and sub-frames are very sound - no structural rust at all.
Two and a half months left on the MOT - but no Tax or Insurance - so needs transporting away. (I can transport any reasonable distance for 50 p per mile one way)
Currently on SORN
Rear seat upholstery has split at the seams in three places - easily repairable. Driver's seat has a burn hole. Radio does not work - I never use it so have not bothered to fix it.
Exhaust is legal and would pass the MOT but centre section is getting rusty and I would replace it. Offside wheel arches have rust spots on the edge - nothing that a good wire brushing and Jenolite and paint job won't fix. Front nearside is fine. Rear nearside has more rusty spot - but again - just a cosmetic repair needed - nothing structural.
Big problem is the engine - it starts and runs OK but the big ends are rattling and it's using oil. I must have let the oil level get a bit low - but as soon as I heard that tell-tale ticking noise I stopped and topped it up. then drove the 150 miles home very gently - avoiding high revs. You could go on driving it like that for hundreds of miles - but if I were keeping it I would find another engine. However - I have now bought another Justy Mk 1 - same year - so I don't need two. This one is well worth rebuilding - if you have read this far you will know they are a popular and collectable fun car that is economical to run. So - if you have a rusty one with a good engine - make one good car from the two!
