1974 FORD ECONOLINE KOMBI VAN LOW MILEAGE 302 V8 AUTO RUST FREE CAL IMPORT

This is my 74 Econoline .
I bought it from an old guy nr lake Tahoe in California. he was moving house. hadn't used the van for a while but was reluctant to let it go. I am in a similar position as I am in two minds whether to let it go or not. but I think it makes sense to advertise it and see how it is received.
The van is a long wheelbase version and pretty much one of the last E vans in this bodystyle. I really like the look of this model and had searched for a while before finding this one. It is pretty cool as it has what I assume are 4 factory fitted hi back seats. They are all on swivel bases and all have fitted seat belts (lap belts) and armrests. They are in excellent condition. with only the drivers seat base bolster being worn.

The condition is in keeping with the low mileage of the van . and a lack of the usual wear and tear associated with panel vans etc. It was well loved and has matching tyres. service stickers and all the tell tale signs of a vehicle that was appreciated rather than simply a workhorse.
The engine is the original 302 (5. 0) V 8 with a 3 speed auto box. The motor is totally stock. including the small carburettor which helps return pretty decent mpg. You could of course replace it with a larger carb and some performance add ons. but the van picks its feet up nicely and is so good to drive in stock form that it really isn't necessary.
There are no bodywork issues on the Econoline. however it has been painted externally in the past - it is a bit of a shame as the original colours of a red lower. and white upper half would be pretty damn cool in my opinion. You could work your way through the beige with a scraper and a tin of compound if the lure or red and white proves too strong . I had a go on a door hinge. but the prospect of a massive van worth of grafting soon stopped that idea in its tracks.
It passed the MOT without a hitch and is super solid and original throughout - it drives really nicely. although a lack of power steering may be an issue for some people.

I have not looked into power steering options. but am pretty confident there will be some should the need be pressing.

The inside of the van retains what I believe to be the original carpets. uncut dash and panelling.

To summarise the van is super straight. rust free and drives really nicely- it has a full MOT. but is not UK registered - it has the relevant NOVA paperwork and I can assist with the registration if required.
